Congrats to our Fan of the Month!

Every Dukes of Hazzard fan has a story. CDoherty95  joined us in February 2011, and in his own words, he’s been a Dukes fan “as long as he can remember.” His pride and joy was a customized General Lee bicycle that he built himself last summer. Several months later, the bike was stolen while parked at school.

Seeing your hard work and money disappear would be discouraging to anyone. But CDoherty95 didn’t let the loss keep him down. He bought a used bike, stripped it down, and built another General Lee bike, refurbishing, painting, and building it all over again. This shows his great dedication to “The Dukes of Hazzard” as well as his strong personal character in not giving up.

CDoherty95 is also an active participant in our Forums and he’s made good contributions to our community. We’re pleased to recognize him as the August 2011 Fan of the Month! His perseverance in the face of adversity sets a fine example for Dukes fans everywhere. Visit our Forums to congratulate him yourself!

Fan O’ the Month!

January is the time of the year that most folks dream of Waikiki Beach but the first Fan Of The Month of 2011 dreams of the beach all year long. If you haven’t already guessed, the latest fan of the month is waikiki23.

Even though waikiki dreams of Hawaii, her roots are practically in Hazzard County considering she was born and grew up an hour from Atlanta. Hmmm, makes ya wonder if she ever ran into any Dukes while she was young.

Waikiki now lives in the wild and wonderful state of West Virginia where she lives in a town very similar to Hazzard. She is relatively new to the HazzardNet, having joined in early October, but she has made a big impact here with all of her great posts, already totalling nearly 600.

Her favorite character is Luke. Don’t tell anybody but Luke was her first crush. She loves his intelligence, level headedness and willingness to fight for his family.

Her favorite episode is the Ghost of the General Lee and her favorite season is four. She has been a fan for six years and loves the Dukes of Hazzard for many reasons, the biggest being (yep, you guessed it) Luke. She also loves the show for the lessons it teaches, especially those bits of wisdom provided by Uncle Jesse. The action and car chases are another reason waikiki is such a big fan.

Her favorite thing about the HazzardNet is the good folks here. I bet they remind her of many of the characters. She loves all the threads but her favorites are trivia and the one word song title.

Her top three goals in life are to get married someday, own a home and learn to play the piano. Her favorite country singers are Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins and Rascal Flatts. She loves the Pittsburgh Steelers, West Virginia Mountaineers, making jewlery, scrapbooking, making quilts and cooking. She loves to write and is a huge fan of the old television show “Emergency”. The show inspired her to go into nursing for awhile but her real dream is to be a firefighter….another noble profession depicted in that old TV classic.

She loves to write and has written numerous fanfics centered around “Emergency” and is just now starting to write Dukes fanfics.

She also has a very interesting hobby that might not surprise you considering her name and love of the warm beach. She collects bottles of sand from famous beaches around the world and has quite an impressive collection.

Speaking of warm and impressive, we’re very impressed with waikiki23 and we sure hope her great posts continue here on the best website on the internet. Warm, thoughtful caring folks like her are what makes this place so awesome!

Congratulations waikiki23 from all of us at HNet!

Fan O’ the Month!

It’s November and it’s cooling off outside but things are always warm and cozy on the HazzardNet with nice folks like Lori Davenport hanging out here and that’s one reason she has been selected as HazzardNet’s Fan of the Month.

Lori is pretty famous around here. She’s somewhat of a celebrity since she really is from Hazard. We don’t mind that her hometown of Hazard Kentucky forgot to add the other Z. All that matters to us is that Lori loves the same favorite show we all do and, in many ways, she represents what the Dukes of Hazzard is all about.

Lori joined the HazzardNet in the summer of 2007 and has blessed us with around 2,700 posts. She is 18 years old and has been a fan of the show most of her life. Her mother is a huge Dukes fan so Lori grew up loving the Dukes as well. (Lori’s mom has great parenting skills).

Growing up in Hazard was a lot like the Dukes growing up in Hazzard. Both are small towns where everybody works hard and has good old fashioned values. Lori has cousins she hangs out with and they act a lot like the Dukes. They kick up dust, fix cars, have farm animals and respect the family patriarch (Lori’s grandpa is the Uncle Jesse of the family). Hazard is a southern town with speed traps, southern hospitality and even a vehicle that looks like the Mean Green Machine. In fact, the cast of the Dukes of Hazzard even visited there in 1982 and Lori’s mom got to meet them.

Lori loves the Dukes because it’s great family entertainment, has happy endings, teaches good lessons, is funny, and occasionally has country music. She has all 7 seasons on DVD and loves the HazzardNet because folks here make you feel like family. She respects the moderators for all the work they do (and did) in creating and maintaining the best website on the internet. Amen, Lori!

If you ask her who her favorite characters are, she’ll respond that she like them all. Rosco and Flash have a slight edge over some of the others. Enos, Jesse and Luke are right behind, followed closely by everyone else.

Lori is a huge fan of some of the older country music stars. Some of her favorites are Johnny Cash, Waylon, Tom Wopat, Conway Twitty, Dolly, Randy Travis, Keith Whitley and George Strate (no relation to Enos Strate).

Lori keeps busy taking care of her horses, 3 dogs and cat named Midnight. She also enjoys softball and is a Texas Tech fan.
She is passionate about reading, writing and drawing. She loves to draw cartoons and reading anything by J.R.R. Tolkien is one of her favorite things to do. She participates in fanfics involving Tolkien as well as Harry Potter. In fact she loves Tolkien’s work so much she has learned the Elvish language Sindarin.

One language everybody here on the HazzardNet knows is the language of Hazzard County. Those folks in Hazard Kentucky might not spell it right but everybody else here on this website sure wishes we lived in a place with a name like that. Since we don’t, we’re thankful that we do have a real resident of Hazard here to add a bit of Hazard excitement to this place. Thanks for all your contributions Lori. You’re our favorite Hazard cousin.

Fan O’ the Month!

It’s October and the trick or treaters will be knocking on your door before you know it. Here at the HazzardNet, we’ve been blessed since mid-July with a guy who has treated us with over 460 posts that have delighted us all…..and that’s why HossC has been selected as October’s fan of the month.

On the “Introduce Yourself” thread Hoss describes himself as an Englishman who has been living in Ireland for 7 years. While he may live in Ireland, his heart’s in Hazzard County. Hoss has been a Dukes fan ever since the original series was being aired. At age 12 (1983) he visited Richmond, Virginia and was thrilled to see a General Lee traveling down the freeway. That event was likely one of the reasons Hoss learned to love Chargers and other American muscle cars so much. He collects 1:18 scale diecast cars and his prized possession is a very rare and valuable black General Lee.

A true car fan, Hoss is a huge follower of Formula I racing as well as all other motorsports. Of course the General Lee is just one reason Hoss loves The Dukes of Hazzard so much. To him, the show is a way to escape the realities of this crazy world and enjoy a simpler world that makes more sense and always has happy endings. He has all the seasons on DVD and he loves all the seasons and characters so much he can’t pick a favorite.

When he’s not watching one of the episodes from his complete 7 year collection, Hoss can be found listening to eclectic music, watching Clint Eastwood movies or doing vector based artwork. When he’s not doing any of that, he can be found on the HazzardNet where he contributes on a wide range of threads, including asking trivia questions that make our brains spin.

Hoss has been one of the best things that has ever happened to the HazzardNet. His computer skills are highly advanced and he’s always quick to help when folks have a technical question.

There’s no question about the fact that Hoss is one of the most devoted Dukes fans anywhere. His contributions to the greatest website on the planet prove it and his friendliness reflects what Hazzard County is all about.

Congratulations Hoss from all of us at HNet!
