Dukes of Hazzard Taking Over Knight Rider Festival

Move over, KITT. The General Lee is taking center stage in Las Vegas on May 18 & 19, 2012, during the Las Vegas Star Cars and Knight Rider 30th Anniversary Convention! Once separate events, these shindigs have been combined by powerhouse Vegas promoter Paul Casey.

The vehicles in attendance will include various incarnations of KITT and probably a dozen or more General Lees. In addition to the iconic cars from Knight Rider and The Dukes of Hazzard, you’ll find famous vehicles from Smokey & The Bandit, The A-Team, The Green Hornet, American Graffiti, Ghostbusters, and anything else that shows up.

The event is FREE to the public, but star car owners are asked to pony up for the Children’s Miracle Network. Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider, co-founder of the charity, is participating in the event and will be signing autographs. “Bo Duke” will be joined by Dukes of Hazzard alumni Byron Cherry, (Coy Duke) and Don Pedro Colley (Sheriff Little.) Catherine Bach has also been invited, but as of HazzardNet press time, her participation is unconfirmed.

Some Knight Rider stars will be there too, but hey, this is a Dukes website and we’re just a little selfish. Go to the official Las Vegas Star Cars website for more details about all the celebrities and cars!

We’re willing to bet that Dukes of Hazzard fans and General Lees take the event over by sheer numbers . It would serve Knight Rider just desserts for picking on The Dukes of Hazzard during the 80’s.  Odds are, a lot of Dixie horns will be heard in Las Vegas!

News: Dukes of Hazzard’s John Schneider Appearing in Monticello, Iowa!

His popularity began as “Bo Duke” and it hasn’t slowed down ever since! John Schneider is a veteran actor who has appeared in many TV shows, including “The Dukes of Hazzard”, “Smallville”, “Glee”, “Trick My What?” and  more. He has numerous movie roles on his resume’, plus he’s had a successful recording career and still does a concert now and then. So, what is John doing at the Rod & Custom Car Show in Monticello, Iowa on Feb 25 & 26?

John will be signing autographs and having his picture taken, no doubt, and he’ll be making a lot of fans happy in the process! Much like Tom Wopat did last weekend at the car show in Canton, Ohio.

It says something about the enduring nature of The Dukes of Hazzard that “Bo and Luke Duke” still draw crowds at car shows. And the fact that John Schneider and Tom Wopat are still willing to sign trunk lids and toy General Lees, says something special about them both.

John will be at the Monticello Berndes Center on Saturday, Feb 25 from noon until 4:00 p.m.  He will return that same evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Sunday, Feb 26, he will be there from 10:00 a.m. t0 2:00 p.m. Visit the show website for more information.

If you go, remember that getting there early is the name of the game. We do not know how much John is charging for autographs at this show.  Bring extra cash, and bring only what you can reasonably afford to have signed.  Merchandise and photos are usually available at John’s booth.

As always, feel welcome to share your experience and photos with us on our Facebook page and on our Forums!

Another High-Dollar General Lee Hits the Market

Retired NBA star Jalen Rose once owned an authentic General Lee, but he made a few modifications – such as the removal of the Confederate flag, removal of the “General Lee” lettering, and the replacement of the “01” on the doors with his own number, “05.” Despite being out of uniform, his General Lee sold twice in 2011, with the proceeds of both transactions benefiting his charity.

Now this General is back on the market, properly bearing the trademark flag, numbers and lettering. It’s offered on ebay by CNC Motors for a buy-it-now price of $69,999. Leaving off that extra “01” dollar is sure to make a difference, right? Anyway, if you’re ready to park 70 grand into a General Lee, this may not be a bad way to go. There’s just one thing – you’ll still need to add the Vector wheels if you want it to look like an authentic General.

This car is reportedly one of the survivors of studio ownership, and an autograph by John Schneider on the trunk lid seems to attest to this. Austute buyers will want to examine the documentation. Screen-used and studio-titled Generals enjoy a premium over replicas, and the history of celebrity ownership doesn’t hurt.

Dukes Cast Member Appearances Coming Up!

Dukes of Hazzard Bo, Luke, and RoscoLooking for a chance to see your favorite Dukes of Hazzard cast member in person? Then mark your calendar with these upcoming events!

Feb 4 & 5, James Best, known to us all as Rosco P. Coltrane, will be at the Mount Dora Art Festival in Mount Dora, FL.  While this isn’t a Dukes event, it’s a good chance to see Jimmie and check out his paintings.

Feb 17, 18 & 19, Tom Wopat, alias “Luke Duke” will be at the Canton Hot Rod Show at the Canton Memorial Civic Center in…you guessed it, Canton OH!  A General Lee is scheduled to be with him at the show. See the official website for show hours and admission fees. Note, Tom doesn’t do a lot of Dukes-themed shindigs, so this is a rare chance for a meet & greet.  If you are interested in Tom’s vocal performances, check out the upcoming show dates on his website.

March 23, 24 & 25, Ben Jones, a/k/a Cooter Davenport, will be at the International Auto Showcase at the New York State Fairgrounds. This huge indoor car show will feature classic and custom cars with an emphasis on old-school muscle. Cooter is always a crowd-pleaser, stop by and say howdy!

And don’t forget, tickets go on sale this Friday, Jan 13 at noon for the Tom Wopat & John Schneider concert on April 12 & 13! Last year’s gig at this venue completely sold out, so we’ve been alerting y’all about this as much as we can.

Us Dukes of Hazzard fans have it good, don’t we? Stay tuned for more Dukes of Hazzard news as it comes!
