Fan O’ the Month!

June is here and that means things are heating up.

Last summer things really warmed up around here when texasdaisy09 joined us on the HazzardNet and now she’s as hot as a Hazzard campfire as this summer’s first Fan of the Month.

We see folks come and go here on the greatest website on the internet but texasdaisy09 is most definitely here for the long haul. She’s been around less than a year but has already established herself as one of the rocks that make up the foundation of the HazzardNet.

She logs in faithfully every day and can be found on a variety of threads blessing us with nearly 500 posts in less than a year. She loves everything about the HazzardNet, especially the friends she has made here. Many things about our website reflect Hazzard County but if you could only use one word to describe it, many folks would use the word “friendly”. If you looked up the word friendly in a Hazzard County dictionary, there’s a good chance you would see texasdaisy’s picture beside the definition. Speaking of friendly, our friendliness here is one of the reasons she got hooked on the HazzardNet in the first place.

Texasdaisy has been a fan of the show since the summer of 1996. Her two favorite episodes are “Daisy’s Song” and “Ghost of the General Lee.” Her favorite character is Daisy, followed by Bo, Luke, Jesse and the rest of the cast. She loves the show for many of the same reasons we all do, tops amongst those reasons is it’s strong family values in a world of television where that is quickly fading.

Her top three priorities in life are God, her family and then her HazzardNet family. With priorities like that in life, she certainly has her house in order. In fact she loves those things so much she says that she “couldn’t make it through life without all three.”

Her hobbies include reading her Bible, watching Dukes, the HazzardNet, historical Christian romances, her garden, NASCAR, horses, country music, the television shows CSI:NY and Reba.

She has two dogs named Daisy and Jesse and is going to be getting a third. You guessed it…she’s going to name it Bo or Luke.

Her three kids have become fans of the show. Hopefully they’ll become HazzardNet members someday. Could there be three more Fans of the Month in her families future? Let’s hope so. Those lucky kids are being brought up right. Texasdaisy09 is what the Hazzard County is all about. There’s nothing more important than passing on those values to younger generations. This world sure needs folks like texasdaisy09. We’re thankful she’s blessed us by being a faithful daily contributor here. She represents what the Dukes of Hazzard and the HazzardNet is all about. Congratulations!!

Condolences to Catherine Bach and Family

The Associated Press has reported that Peter Lopez, husband of Catherine Bach, died today as a result of an apparent suicide.   Mr. Lopez leaves behind Cathy and their two daughters.

Mr. Lopez was a long-time Hollywood attorney, who according to the Dukes of Hazzard Unofficial Companion Book, worked with Cathy to help bring about the first Dukes TV reunion movie.   He was well regarded in the entertainment industry and worked with many A-list clients.

We extend our deep sympathies to Cathy and her family during this difficult time.  Cathy, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Fan O’ the Month!

April 1st is Sadie Hogg Day in Hazzard County so things are always a little confusing around Hazzard on the first day of this month. One thing we’re not confused about is how much we like DaneyDuke and that’s why she has been selected as HazzardNet’s Fan of the Month for April 2010.

Daney is one of the few folks still active on the HazzardNet who have been around since it’s early years. She’s certainly seen a lot since those good old days and she’s hung around for many reasons, including the feeling that the folks here are like a second family to her. Combine that with the fact that the Dukes of Hazzard is the greatest show in history and that’s all Daney needs to be dedicated for nearly a decade to the best website on the internet.

When you log onto the HazzardNet you can see that she’s all over the place on this great site. Like a Rosco P. Coltrane speedtrap, you never know where she’ll pop up next. You can find her on fanfics, round robins and role plays. She’s always updating folks on current events, talking in the chat room, or contributing to many various threads all over the HazzardNet forums.

She has been a Dukes fan since the show was originally on CBS on Friday nights and loves every one of the characters (even Boss). She has met several of the stars and has attended the grandaddy of all Dukes events, the DukesFest.

She loves the Dukes of Hazzard because it’s family-centered, fun-filled and teaches the importance of good old-fashioned values. She is a member of the thousand point club with over 1,300 and is just getting started.

She counts such episodes as “Daisy’s Song”, “Witness-Jesse Duke” and “Ten Million Dollar Sheriff” as some of her favorites. When she’s not busy watching a Dukes episode or posting on HazzardNet, Daney spends her time reading, listening to music, taking pictures and swimming.

The cold temperatures will soon be a thing of the past and spring is in the air. That always makes folks around Hazzard feel young and new. It’s nice to have a few new members around here to make things exciting and fresh like spring. We always love new folks here.

Daney certainly ISN’T one of those fresh faces in town. She’s been around a long time and her input has been valuable in helping the moderators mold the HazzardNet into what it is today.

For all her contributions through the years, the new and old folks of HazzardNet are very grateful. You’re awesome Daney! Thanks for all you do.

HazzardNet Accepts Buyout Offer

It’s with mixed emotions that we announce that HazzardNet.comhas been sold to new ownership.   After receiving a compelling offer from a media firm who wishes to license the HazzardNet name for uses unrelated to the Dukes of Hazzard, we carefully considered their offer before accepting. It was not an easy decision, after working together over 10 years and watching fellow Dukes fans become very good friends of ours.

One of the factors we had to admit, was that overhead costs for website operation continue to increase (MaryAnne’s cord tripping gets pricey after awhile), while the size of the fan base is on the decline.

So when somebody waved a pickle jar full of cash under our nose, it got our attention.   We did the only practical thing.

We sold out.

MaryAnne is moving on to become an administrator for a public relations firm.  Brian has accepted a new position at MAD Magazine.

MeadowMufn is undecided on her new venture, probably because we haven’t told her we sold the place yet.  But when she sees the size of this check, she’ll be fine.

And if you haven’t figured it out already…April Fools!   We couldn’t ever sell this place. (Nobody wants it.)   Seriously, though, we couldn’t.  The Dukes of Hazzard will never be forgotten, and HazzardNet will stick around to be sure of it.   YEEHAAAA!

On the Road with the Duke boys and Cooter!

Cooter Hits the Road

Like the bluebird of Spring, Ben “Cooter” Jones is heading north.  He’ll be at the Cavalcade of Wheels Car Show in South Bend, Indiana, on March 20th and 21st.  A General Lee will be there with him, so it’s a great opportunity to snap some photos and pick up an autograph.  Admission fees and autograph fees apply; see the official shindig link for more details:  http://www.cavalcadeofwheels.com/show.htm

If you can’t get to Indiana, then how about Virginia?  Ben will be at the Wild Wheels Cruisin’ Weekend in Virginia Beach, VA, April 16th through 18th.

Get in Tune with Tom Wopat

Or at least listen to his performance at the  The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, MD, on March 28.   Tom’s smooth, jazzy style is a crowd-pleaser no matter what your musical tastes.  For ticket info call #301-581-5100,
