Jessica Simpson Video and Dukes at the Museum of TV and Radio

First of all, yours truly (MaryAnne) is super frosted because I just spent a good hour or so yesterday working on this update and my cursed computer froze up before I could save the file!!! Had it all done! Ready to roll!! It was beautiful and smarmy! Now I can’t remember what the heck I wrote and I gotta try an’ make it all beautiful and smarmy again! You can’t recreate spontaneous stuff like this! One shot deal folks!! I HATE AOL!!!!

There, now that I got that out of my system…. thank you very much. LOL

Well now, it ain’t been all that quiet on the southern front. LOL. We just haven’t gotten around to posting some news! (Aren’t you glad we don’t run a 24 hour news network? “Ahh…tune in next hour, maybe we’ll have something.”

First, in the Musical Notes and Nonesense Department…

Jessica Simpsons video for “These Boots are Made for Walking” is getting a lot of attention since it’s release a little over a week or so ago. We knew featuring the General would bring in the crowd! What’s that? Oh yeah, that bikini….well, ya can’t please everybody. Despite the General’s presense in the video it should be noted that at least one of the doors was opened at some point during the video (I have not seen the video with my own eyes yet, this is being reported by other folks). I gotta lodge a protest tho’….the doors are supposed to be welded shut! It’s a race car!! What part of this does Hollywood not understand?!?!

Anyway….moving on…coming to a town near you….

July is shaping up to be a busy month for Dukes related events! Check out the websites of your favorite DOH personalties to see where they’ll be at! Their sites are listed in our links section. (We’re not responsible for sites that have no appearance listing. Please don’t email us asking why there’s no appearance listing for a particular cast member!)

(Note from Meadowmufn: Or you can check our Cast Appearances page, which we actually do sometimes update… occasionally. Ok, rarely, but I just updated it today!)

Meanwhile, the Museum of Television and Radio is currently running an exhibit called “TV Goes Hollywood” from June 10 to August 21. From their website…

The Museum of Television and Radio couldn’t help but notice that many of this summer’s cinematic offerings have a somewhat…familar quality. We invite you to reacquaint yourself with the television incarnations of these newly minted movie versions for a refresher course in what makes these pop culture icons such irresistible fair-weather fare.

Obviously the Dukes of Hazzard is part of the exhibit (yes there’s a movie being made for all y’all that have been under a rock for the past 6 to 8 months. LOL). More specifically, Katie at the Museum tells us…From July 22nd through August 4th on Tuesdays to Sundays at 12:30 p.m., the Museum of Television and Radio will be having a screening of an original Dukes of Hazzard episode!

We’ve chosen “Daisy’s Song” in which Daisy realizes that she has been the victim of a scam. A record company that published her song didn’t pay her royalties, so Bo and Luke devise a plan to expose the shady operation by having Daisy seduce the record producer while they follow her to the studio and raise a ruckus.

Come, check it out and help us notify other great Dukes of Hazzard fans!!

25 West 52nd Street (between 5th and 6th)
New York, NY 10019

It should be noted that Daisy doesn’t seduce the record producer (at least, not in my definition of seduce!). But she quite effectively shucks and jives him and frankly any fella with a proper amount of hormones is gonna fall for that anyway. =)So! All you Dukes fans in the NYC area, git your posteriors over to the above address and check it out!

April and May news tidbits have been moved the News Archives.
Blackfilm.com has some pics that of the new movie, most of which have been all over the web for months. But worth noting are the couple of pics of brother Burt as Boss Hogg and one of Lynda Carter (who still looks like she could jump into Wonder Woman mode and do some serious damage! Jessica who? ROFL). Check ’em out…

Dukes of Hazzard Movie Tickets

First an update on the 3rd Season DVD “I didn’t get no stinkin’ movie ticket!” controversy. Basically….your chance of getting a ticket is a crap shoot. LOL. Initially I (MaryAnne) thought that “specially marked packages” would have the movie ticket. I had noticed at my local Borders that the DVD had a sticker on it about the movie tickets, where as the copies at my local Target did not. I bought the DVD at Target because it’s about 10 bucks cheaper. However, the sticker theory got blown to heck when a friend of mine, who purchased her copy at Best Buy, had no ticket and hers had the sticker on it.
So basically, as I said, it’s a crap shoot. Another fan wrote in explaining that what probably happened was only a certain number of the DVDs got the ticket (let’s say, the first 5000 DVD’s, or however many movie goers WB was willing to subsidize. LOL) Those 5000 or so DVDs are then shipped all over the country and…well, good luck.
In all fairness, WB should have made this clear with their advertising, instead of just saying “Get a free movie ticket with the 3rd Season DVD purchase!”  For crying out loud, we’re not THAT stupid y’know!
Anyway, speaking of the movie, we got a tidbit from our Musical Notes and Nonesense department….
ETOnline reports on the upcoming music video featuring Jessica Simpson and Willie Nelson doing a remake of Nancy Sinatra’s classic song “These Boots Are Made For Walking.” Also of note the soundtrack album appears slated for release on July 19th, according to this article.

(HNet Editorial from MaryAnne: I’m assuming that Simpson’s “okay!” response on finding out the song was originally done by Sinatra was Jessicaspeak for “WhothehellisNancySinatra?” I take comfort tho’ that one day, forty years from now there’ll be another blonde bombshell singer who will do a cover of a Jessica Simpson song and ask “WhothehellisJessicaSimpson?” And the wheel in the sky keeps on turning…LOL )
