RC General Lee Road Test

This is the Dukes of Hazzard item you’ve all been waiting for. The Radio Controlled General Lee. Yeeehaaa! One of our staff members has taken it for a road test.

RC General Lee Road Test!

Radio Controlled General Lee

We recently put this factory-fresh, 27 MHz General Lee through our grueling road test.  The very first thing we discovered, is that some minor assembly of the pistol-grip remote is required.  Not a big deal, unless you don’t already own a teeny-tiny screwdriver.

The next thing we discovered, is the separate little box that serves as a Dixie horn on-demand.  Simply press the button and salute yourself!  Only thing is, for every one press of the button, there were 3 plays of the Dixie charge.  This got old fast, especially after hitting the silly thing twice on accident.  Revenge was ours when we rolled the car over it.

The car itself performed beautifully.  We were merciless in our test run. The RC General successfully crashed through the aluminum can pyramid, and managed small jumps from our death-defying pizza-box ramp.  It survived head-on collisions with observing members of the HazzardNet staff.  (The affected staff members reported being “scuffed” but have pulled through heroically.)

On the surface tests, the car did fine with short passes through dirt and gravel. It crunched over twigs and small debris with no problem. Though like any other RC car, it does best with smooth pavement.  The only surface test failure was the front lawn.

All in all, the speed and maneuverability of this toy was impressive for the $35.00 price. (Walmart.) The detail on the car is excellent. Bonus features included working taillights and parking lamps. The operational range of the remote control is decent, and the controller itself is easy to handle.

This is the Dukes of Hazzard toy we’ve all been waiting for! Yeehaaaa!!
