Jimmie Comments on the CMT Awards

One day til taxes are due! Ack! But on to even better news…

We have photos Jimmie Best took at the CMT Music Awards. Check out our gallery! He and his wife had a blast. I’ll let him tell you all about it in his own words…

Well, if you want to have an ego boost, just walk the red carpet going into the CMT Music Awards Show. Dorothy and I had the privilege to do just that Monday night, April 11.

I don’t know how many fans lined the red carpet leading into the Gaylord Entertainment Center, I can’t count that high. Inside was controlled pandemonium, with at least fifteen thousand screaming fans. It was just breathtaking to see such a sea of smiling and cheering fans for the Dukes of Hazzard cast.

The reception for the Dukes cast when we appeared all together on the stage was, as the younger set say “Awesome!” I really believe it was even more than that. It just verified what the cast has believed all along, that the fans of the Dukes of Hazzard are loyal to the core, and just down right dedicated to bringing the show back to what it was years ago in prime time.

It is third generation now, and going as strong as ever, and that is expressed by everyone we talk to. We are so proud that we were a part of television history that brought good clean entertainment to not only our great country, but to fans old and young all around the world. I thank God everyday that I was blessed to have been a small part of creating a television classic that can never be duplicated or ruined by copy cat take offs.

We created a show that was one of a kind and hope the fans will all agree. No matter what is presented as the Dukes of Hazzard, in the future as a movie, the fans will make their own judgment as to which is right for them and their children to view. We believe the original Dukes of Hazzard will be the one that really owns Flash and the General Lee.

All My Best,

James Best

We’d also like to mention that Jimmie and his wife are currently looking for investors for a film version of his critically acclaimed play “Hell Bent For Good Times”. It is a bittersweet and sentimental tale of an old couple, John and Ada, living in the Depression era South and struggling to raise their teenage grandchildren. The drama and comedy of this play could best be compared to the likes of On Golden Pond. Filming “Hell Bent For Good Times” has long been a dream of his.
