James Best’s New Site, Movie Updates, CD Reissued, and more.

Been awhile since we’ve given ya an update. Things were a little quiet but are picking up again and rolling!! As y’all know, Cooter’s Place is gearing up for DukesFest June 4th/5th and The Confederate General Lee Fan Club is having their Dukes Day in Little Rock Arkansas starting today and going through tomorrow!

In the Arts department…

James Best has a new website dedicated to his artwork. You may recall that some of his paintings were featured in the Dukes of Hazzard episode “Dead and Alive”. Swing by and take a look at these gorgeous oil paintings at JamesBestArt.com.

Meanwhile, in movie news…..

THE DUKES MOVIE TRAILER HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!!!

We hear there’s a trailer for Dukes of Hazzard at Yahoo! Movies. Check it out!

And then check out some comments from HNet members. Nobody holds back in this joint, lemme tell ya.

In the Musical Notes and Nonsense department….

Also, for those of you who missed it the first time, they’re reissuing the Dukes of Hazzard album from the early 1980’s. It features Tom Wopat, John Schneider, Cathy Bach, Sorrell Booke, James Best, Johnny Cash, and Doug Kershaw.

Also given that Waylon’s original single release version of the DOH theme is used part of the back ground music for the trailer and the unwavering popularity of the DOH theme in general (heh!), we’ve noticed some folks asking about where they can get the theme song.

Well, if you want the one minute TV version of the theme song, your best bet is the paw through the “Soundtracks” or “Various Artists” or “Compliations” section of your favorite music store. The Dukes original TV theme can be found on “Television’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 6: Remote Control.” Along with the DOH theme there’s other great shows such as “The Fall Guy,” “Night Court,” CHiPs,” “Vega$,” “Knight Rider,” “MacGyver,” “BJ and the Bear,” “Hardcastle and McCormack” and bazillion other shows. The CD has a total of 65 theme songs from 70’s and 80’s tv shows.

Waylon Jennings’ single release (2 + minutes, the version you hear part of in the trailer) can be found on Rhino records “Tube Tunes Vol. 3: The 80’s” and also on “RCA Country Legends: Waylon Jennings“, which is an excellent two disc set featuring some of Waylon’s greatest hits.

And finally, in the pattin’-ourselves-on-the-back-department….

HAZZARDNET.COM GETS TOP BILLING IN YAHOO DIRECTORY FOR DOH WEBSITES!

Yahoo Directory

Not only that, Yahoo defines the little sunglasses icon as follows….

“Sunglasses” are placed by our editors to indicate sites that are noteworthy resources in their subject area. Sunglasses are given to sites in non-commercial categories. We consider each site for sunglasses when reviewing it for placement in the Yahoo! Directory

How kewl is that? Khee!

Yes, we are humble enough to know that a pat on the back is about 18 inches from a kick in the pants.  But we know that HNet would not be as successful and as big as it is if it wasn’t for all of you out there that visit and contribute. So we want to THANK YOU!! for your patronage. =)

Miscellaneous Dukes of Hazzard news!

Also WB is putting out abbreviated releases of the Dukes of Hazzard on DVD

The Dukes of Hazzard – Television Favorites. This is kind of a “Best of” type release, but obviously WB is looking to tie in as much publicity as possible with the release of the movie later this summer. One of the DVD’s even features some behind the scenes footage from the new movie along with the packaging featuring Jessica Simpson, Johnny Knoxville and Sean William Scott. (Thanks to the several fans who let us know of this.)

Jimmie Comments on the CMT Awards

One day til taxes are due! Ack! But on to even better news…

We have photos Jimmie Best took at the CMT Music Awards. Check out our gallery! He and his wife had a blast. I’ll let him tell you all about it in his own words…

Well, if you want to have an ego boost, just walk the red carpet going into the CMT Music Awards Show. Dorothy and I had the privilege to do just that Monday night, April 11.

I don’t know how many fans lined the red carpet leading into the Gaylord Entertainment Center, I can’t count that high. Inside was controlled pandemonium, with at least fifteen thousand screaming fans. It was just breathtaking to see such a sea of smiling and cheering fans for the Dukes of Hazzard cast.

The reception for the Dukes cast when we appeared all together on the stage was, as the younger set say “Awesome!” I really believe it was even more than that. It just verified what the cast has believed all along, that the fans of the Dukes of Hazzard are loyal to the core, and just down right dedicated to bringing the show back to what it was years ago in prime time.

It is third generation now, and going as strong as ever, and that is expressed by everyone we talk to. We are so proud that we were a part of television history that brought good clean entertainment to not only our great country, but to fans old and young all around the world. I thank God everyday that I was blessed to have been a small part of creating a television classic that can never be duplicated or ruined by copy cat take offs.

We created a show that was one of a kind and hope the fans will all agree. No matter what is presented as the Dukes of Hazzard, in the future as a movie, the fans will make their own judgment as to which is right for them and their children to view. We believe the original Dukes of Hazzard will be the one that really owns Flash and the General Lee.

All My Best,

James Best

We’d also like to mention that Jimmie and his wife are currently looking for investors for a film version of his critically acclaimed play “Hell Bent For Good Times”. It is a bittersweet and sentimental tale of an old couple, John and Ada, living in the Depression era South and struggling to raise their teenage grandchildren. The drama and comedy of this play could best be compared to the likes of On Golden Pond. Filming “Hell Bent For Good Times” has long been a dream of his. If you are interested in investing, please visit Jimmie’s site for more information.
