Writers Guild Strikes; Dukes of Hazzard Fans Rejoice

The Writer’s Guild of America gave collective bargaining the collective finger. Antagonized by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers over piddly things like not getting paid for podcasts, web downloads and the like, the Writer’s Guild has officially broken the pencil. The strike will linger until the Producers come to their senses and resolve the compensation issues.

Yeah, right. What are the odds of that? This is Hollywood we’re talking about.

While the strike rages into it’s second day, some TV programs will be immediately affected, while others will last awhile before the lack of new scripts cuts into production. Fans of current, popular programs are already anticipating a dreary winter of prime-time reruns.

Dukes of Hazzard fans, meanwhile, have reasons to be optimistic. The possibilities are strong that a lingering writer’s strike will cause shows like The Dukes of Hazzard to be rerun again. We wouldn’t be surprised if CMT abruptly brought the Dukes back on the air.

The downside of this, is that we might see the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie on network TV sooner than later. Guess we’ll have to take the bad with the good.

When we have confirmation of any re-airing of The Dukes of Hazzard, we’ll let you know. Meanwhile, pay tribute to the Writer’s strike by popping in your Dukes DVD’s at home, and watching a timeless masterpiece like, “Strange Visitor to Hazzard.”

We Want More Dukes!

Everytime the latest Dukes of Hazzard DVD set was released, we here at HNet (not just staff, but loyal Hazzardites) would anxiously await to see what the extras would be. Would one of the reunion movies be added? Maybe an episode of the short lived spin off “Enos” where Daisy, Rosco or Uncle Jesse visted? Maybe one or two of the Dukes cartoon episodes?

But alas, now that all seven seasons have now been released, WB didn’t give us a taste of any of that.

But wait! According to tvshowsondvd.com, there are rumors that WB is considering releasing both reunion movies, the “Enos” series AND the Dukes cartoon series on DVD!! Could it be our prayers have been answered??

We’ll know for sure come the summer of 2008, when the two reunion movies are slated for release. Y’all stick around y’hear?
