Denver Pyle

Denver Pyle was born on May 11th, 1920 in Bethune, Colorado. His first acting job was the role of Carl in the movie “Devil Ship” in 1947, at the age of 27. His acting career spanned over 50 years in which he appeared in 9 television series and over 90 movies. He had several guest star appearances in such shows at Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Andy Griffith Show and Perry Mason. However in 1979, he took on his most recognized and beloved role, Uncle Jesse Duke. Denver was diagnosed with cancer in 1996 yet he would not let his illness stop him from making the first Dukes of Hazzard Reunion movie. On December 11, 1997, Denver was given his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, unfortunately though it would be his last public appearance. He lost his battle with cancer and passed away on December 25th, 1997. Denver was 77. He was a good man and a very talented actor that will be missed always.
