Hey Rosco_Lover!
What's up?
I am sorry, but what are you trying to say? I am not sure I understand.
Are you saying that it feels like the site died? Why is that, if you don't mind my asking?
Hope to hear from you soon!

Yes I'm curious myself why you say that. The place has continued to be quite active with posts and RR's. Note quite dead from where I'm standing! LOL

Rosco_Lover,

If you really want to see a community that hasn't had a post in months - try HazzardCrossroads on yahoo groups. And one that hasn't had activity in years is Hazzard County Sheriff's Department, also on yahoo groups.

Feels like the site died? Died?! As in...croaked? Kicked the milk bucket? Bought the Duke farm? Gave up the Ghost of General Lee?

We're lazy, I'll admit that, but to suggest for one pea-pickin' minute that HazzardNet had "died" is o-ffensive.

I'll also admit that outside of the last couple days, it's probably been a few weeks since I've posted. Had I but known that HazzardNet would be perceived as abandoned and forlorn and dead, I would have never taken that six-week vacation in the county pen.

Died, eh? I'm tellin' ya, we've always caught our share of criticism, but nobody's ever accused us of dying before. I think that's the harshest feedback we ever got.

At HazzardNet, we take input from our users very seriously, and you can rest assured that we'll take immediate action to prove that we are not, in fact, zombies.

Right after my nap. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Hazzardnet has not died as Brian and everyone else is telling you. In fact things are slow because of the holidays. I'm sure a lot of people have travelled during the holidays or just plain don't have time to get online because of company or something else that has come up.

Also many people work and go to school.

i'm new to the site. this is my first discussion, and i'm a little confused. how can anyone say that it's dead. it's stronger than ever.i've been a duke fan all my life. once a duke fan always a duke fan. the holidays are over. it will pick up,you'll see...

Welcome to Hazzard County traster67. Buckle up for safety.
Hey everybody, Brian's sleeping. I think we should do that subliminal message thing on him...you know like the Dukes did on Boss when he was napping on the Christmas episode. If we post messages when he's sleeping, we could change his whole personality *whispers* Who wants to go first?

Subliminal messages? I suppose, RogerDuke, you could try changing my personality...if I had one to start with.

And General Grant agrees with Rosco Lover. The site is slow, eh? Well, there's only one thang left for me to do....like pick a fight with MaryAnne.

Fortunately for me, since the site is so slow she's not likely to be paying any attention to my insipid little replies here.

The easiest way to annoy MaryAnne is to misuse one's administrative powers for evil. I'm pretty good at this, thanks to years of practice. I just need a day to cook something up. And then, I can plead total peer pressure because Rosco Lover got bored and goaded me into it.

Oh, look who's talking!

All I have to do to get you riled, is delete users at random, alter posts needlessly, and erase your own posts, and use inflammatory language in our homepage articles.

So, I got quite a few thangs to pick from to set you off. Now that you're watching me, I'll probably have to pull multiple stunts at once, to make sure there's one or two things you miss.

Of course, I could just be blowin' smoke, so you police the place relentlessly and wear yourself out.

Besides, I've behaved for months. You've got nothing to worry about.

She says if you do it again, she'll be leaving the site, so um, if it was you, could you send her an appology? Please? If ya gonna mess with posts, be careful who ya do it to, ya might really upset them. If it wasn't you brian, someone's hacking folk's user names, but somehow... I think it was you. Sorry Lori, I figured you'd be a sport, no offense meant. Don't go running off. I'll quit the horsing around and leave you be. The last thing I want is for anybody to be genuinely uncomfortable. HNet and its message board is for the fans, like you. So I'll shut up and knock it off.

S'awright Lori, I really shouldn't have.

MaryAnne will probably fire me again. After all, the site has been "dead" so I'm sure downsizing the administrative staff is next. Especially staff that annoys the regulars.

Maybe if I look really busy and come up with some news for the homepage, I can avoid being cast out into the streets. 'Scuze me while I dig frantically for information.

Aren't they still busy in the broadway production of "My Fair Lady?" Maybe instead of dragging this matter out further, we can encourage Brian to finish a story for the Dog Collar Challenge. And then nominate him for a pulizter prize because he's my favorite favorite author in the whole wide world next to you Deputy.

Gah!!! It would seem that the popular sentiment is weighin' against yers truly.

'Cept maybe you Daney, though I'd caution against suggesting to MaryAnne that she "shouldn't drag this matter out further." I mean, that sounds ominous. Please, let her take her time and drag it out all she wants, so I can find a way to redeem myself.

Fortunately, a few Hazzardites have written in with news tidbits today, to make me appear useful ! Here's a short rundown:

John is going to be on Broadway, in the hit musical "Chicago"

John is in a movie that's coming out on DVD

John's got 2 or 3 other appearances in movies due out soon

Tom is in a movie that hits theaters the end of Feb ( "Bonneville" )

Tom is rumored to have a new Broadway gig on the table, though audtions are still in progress

Al Gore is scheduled to appear at DukesFest

Hmmm...I got my doubts about that last one. Sometimes you gotta take these reports with a grain of rock salt.

Anyhow! I have to stick around in order to put all the details together. Guess I'm not expendable today. Which means I should go find a post to alter because I'd probably get away with it.

Enjoyed Mufn's and Val's posts there....ya know the world has changed, when there IS such a concept as a "famed environmentalist" , and Al Gore is the poster boy.

Maybe he's gonna unveil an environmentally friendly General Lee that runs on rechargable batteries. The catch is, it's a remote control toy. Yep, save gas and emissions on DukesFest by leaving the Dodge Chargers at home and bringing in your ERTL collection. Bet that would go over well....

Julie, Al didn't get re-e-lected because he hadn't been elected the first time. That whole electoral vote thang vs. the popular vote, remember? Al was Clinton's VP for two terms. Whatevah, this ain't the Colbert Report so don't expect me to get into political debates.

Alex, I'd already altered Daneys' post. But I said exactly what she would have, anyway. Heh heh.

To answer you, "Cowboy" ... I hate creamed, chipped beef. It's a step below a can of Alpo dog food. Which, I'm surprised the Hazzard County Jail hasn't served up yet, seein' as how it's an institution of cruel and unusual foodstuffs. ( though if you got connections you can get take out food from the cafe' in town.)

As usual, the deciding factor is MaryAnne. Which is why I'm holding back my news articles, as it's the only thing I've got to bargain with. (See, this is why the homepage doesn't get updated as often as it should. It's my selfish interest in self-preservation.)

This actually happened at the McDonald's that work at this morning and I don't know how anybody is going to react so I'll just tell everybody about it. Well this guy goes and buys a breakfast sandwich ask to speak to Manager, so I get the manager and he tells her that there is man in the dining room reading the bible. Well, I certain he's a minister or paster myself. Well, he tells her that that offends him because he's a atheist.

P.S. What is everybody thought on what happened today at work?

Jack, don't get ideas.

Alex, the four horses could, in theory, be used to administer an archaic form of justice, which is far too unpleasant to detail here.

Fortunately, if the selected Hazzard horses are as ambitious as the rest of the staff around here, they'd be too lazy to pull it off. Literally. They'd just stand there, chew hay, and try to look busy, like the rest of us.

Besides, I haven't done anything that bad to warrant such a dramatic threat! I'd have to do something more treasonous, like mess around with MaryAnne's own posts.

Which I have successfully done! Muhahahhaha...she'll never figure it out.

Oh wait. Maybe she did because I don't remember typing these words...

Hey Brian, why don't you write up all that news for the front page of HNet that you've been meaning to do for the past four days or so instead of contributing to the deliquency of the entire town?

And Roger...I'll admit Maudine can kick some butt. She's kicked Rosco's a few times. I think instead of kicking these four horses I've got in waiting (they ain't city horses), she can kick Brian's butt!

Get to work, Brian. You lazy black clad slacker!

I'm crushed. Daney recently tried to set her user panel to ignore me. I'm absolutely devestated. How cold. How cruel. How absolutely ineffective.

If I ever fall off the face of the Forums, all fingers would point to Daney. She's evah-dently got an agenda. Or a day planner. Or at least a free bank calendar, and she intends to render me silent. Just because I altered a few dozen of her posts over the course of the last...oh, five or six years.

And MaryAnne calls me a lazy slacker! Salt in the wound. I'm feeling a little under-appreciated here.

After all the contributions I've made to HazzardNet over the years, I'd expect to be better thought of. Why, if it wasn't for me.....

..this place would run pretty darn well. But that aside, one can't ignore the impact I've had on the community.

Then again, maybe that's MaryAnne's point. Now that she's in the taste-of-own-medicine phase and she's altering my posts, it won't be much longer before this whole thing erupts into chaos.

I have four choices at this point:

1) Stop the nonsense and get back to work

2) Pretend to be getting back to work but cause subtle disruptions - nothing bad enough to incur MaryAnne's full wrath, but be annoying enough to make her pay close attention to my every move for the next three weeks

3) Openly escalate my shenanigans until MaryAnne gives me the Ultimatim Du Jour - then cave in at the last possible moment

4) Join the Writer's Guild strike and just hold my pencil until I get paid more money

Hmmm. Choices, choices....what to do, what to do....

Aw Brian, don't let Daney's attempt to block you get you down. Given the way the strike is going, you'll be waiting until hell freezes over for that pay raise. Come to think of it, just like all those striking writers, you too can be replaced. So go ahead and strike....

I'd recommend either option 2 or...yes, even 3. Getting you to take option 1 would be out of character.

I don't suppose it would be possible to get back to work while still engaging in nonesense?

This is why I enjoy working with MaryAnne. I always know exactly where she stands...and about how far away I need to be, to avoid getting kicked.

Looks like if I go on strike, even for a day, she'll fire me immediately. This is a classic instance of having a bluff called. She knows I'm probably kidding about going on strike, but I can tell that she's not kidding about replacing me. So, that one's out. There's too many people who would be happy to take my place. ( Like Alex, who's been after my job for years.)

Options 2 and 3 both mean that sooner or later, I'll produce something worthwhile for the homepage. Option 2 is more friendly and pretty much business as usual. Option 3 takes a bit more daring and finesse. It also means my work, when I finally provide it, better be dang well worth the wait.

So, in the interest of quality....option 3 it is!

Clydesdales? How charming. No, "Bud" ain't my brand, and after that mental image, it's not likely to to win me over. That would be a new take on a beer commercial, though. Change brands, or else -- aaaaaaugh!!

Actually, just making me drink Budweiser would be pretty harsh.

Note to public: HazzardNet does not officially endorse or denounce any brand of beer. Drink beer responsibly. Do not serve beer to minors. Don't drink and drive. Consumption of beer may impair your ability to operate your brain. Beer is not considered a food group and should not be used in substitute of a main meal. Despite what you see on TV, beer does not make you more popular, witty, or sexy. In fact, beer bloats your stomach and gives you an incessant urge to whiz. Other common side effects of beer include blurred vision, headaches, loss of muscular coordination and loss of memory. Overdosing on beer may cause nausea and even death. Ask your doctor if beer is right for you.

 This public service announcement has been brought to you by BEER.

Next up: Some real news. *hic* Or more empty threats. Depends on MaryAnne's mood.

Super energy pill ? Say no to drugs, Roger.

Say no to buttermilk, too.

How do I still function around the place elsewhere while in a predicment here? Well, "here" and "elsewhere" are different places within a place, that's all. The only time a prediciment is overriding across the board, is when we have a bet on the side, or we've truly gotten our hackles up. Otherwise, the shenanigans in one thread are separate and unique from another.

But that would be a great excuse for more procrastination.

Mmrpgh. You want news, eh? Here's news:

HazzardNet Administrator Annoys Co-Worker
Internal Incident Ree-ports on the Rise

After several years of random allegations, there seems to be substance behind the rumors of HazzardNet's adverse work environment. The continued antagonism between principal members of the HNet staff is under investigation.

In our exclusive interview with myself, I had this to say:

"I just try to do the bare minimum around here. But nothing is ever enough. I mean, if I can't sleep on the job, where can I?"

Stay tuned as we unearth more startling details on this developing story.

Can't a guy get some sleep around heah?

I checked the chatroom. It's still there.

I also logged into both versions without any problem. We've had no other reports of any hitches, so it might be on her end. Is she logging in to the Forums before attempting to get into Chat? If not, have her try that first.

If she's still having issues with it, just PM me, or MaryAnne, and include some details.

Now, where was I. Oh, yeah.

Wow. Ok, here's where I screwed up for real and made MaryAnne angry for real.

Daisy Mae Duke had a genuine technical question on the chatrooms that she had apparenty emailed to us a couple or three days ago. I missed the message. I'll spare ya the excuses.

When Daney posted the issue to me - within a thread that we were all goofing around on - I took the issue with a light hearted grain of salt, figuring Daney might have made something up to make me "look busy."

I did a basic check of the chatrooms, found nothing wrong, and wasn't aware, at that time, of the email Daisy Mae sent in. So instead of replying to Daisy Mae Duke directly and asking her how I could help, I posted a smarmy answer to Daney, who had relayed the matter.

And then Daisy Mae PM'd MaryAnne, and MaryAnne was the first person to properly investigate the issue and respond directly.

This bad customer service isn't typical of the HazzardNet experience. I've apologized to Daisy Mae in a private message. I'm also publicizing this explanation because I don't want people thinking that we treat our members like this on an ordinary basis. It just hit me through the wrong channel, I wasn't in the right mindset, and I blew it.

Normally we do not give our users such smarmy answers to legitimate questions. If anyone ever has a real question, be it technical, or related to the show, or whatever, please always feel welcome to send a private message to MaryAnne, Meadowmufn, or myself.

MaryAnne, wish you weren't mad at Brian. I made a poor choice to bring the issue into this thread. Instead of addressing to one admin, it should have gone to all. I should have asked via pm if y'all had been contacted by DaisyMae about the matter.

No, Daisy, it's okay. No apology is needed, please don't feel bad about any of this. We dropped the ball, collectively, on the issue. Brian was caught off guard, I handled things poorly on my part. But we've addressed the issue, as you already know. And we thank you for your patience.

I'm not mad at Brian and nobody's gonna git fired. Everything's okay folks, we're gonna keep going with shenanigans as usual.

Have to admit I did wake 'em up tho'.... :deputy:

Sometimes I can't tell if MaryAnne and Brian are joking or not about being mad. Even if they really do get mad at each other it's clear that they work well together as a team. They kinda remind me of Boss and Rosco. They really love each other when it all comes down to it.....and us Hazzard folks love them too.....

Sometimes we can't tell either. But that last time, yeah, I can assure ya, it was a real mad. Fortunately, we talked it out and patched things up quick.

That's the risk I run when I constantly poke and prod and tease, that eventually I'll do something that will make MaryAnne honestly mad when I don't mean to make her mad, and then POW. It's kind of a self-fullfilling prophecy and akin to playing with fire. And do I ever learn?

Nah. Though I respect her tremendously, and you're right. We're family. We tick each other off sometimes, but we're only human and we work things out.

Speaking of work....I'd better get to some of it. For a change. We've actually got quite a bit of news coming up - rumors about a new Dukes project being filmed, (unconfirmed), but we've been hearing rumblings about this for 2 years and somebody recently sent us a link. I'm checking that out and we'll get something on the homepage soon.

Yeah, we posted a blurb about that back in October and our source was the site tvshowsondvd.com. They usually have pretty reliable sources and apparently what's to happen is the two reunion movies will be released later this summer. Depending on how that goes we might see "Enos" and the Dukes cartoons following that.

I just checked the tvshowsondvd site and there hasn't been an update since October for Dukes stuff.

Brian's good at digging up stuff tho'. Khee! So as we always say, stay tuned!

By the way, nice job on the recent front page article, Brian. You do some good work when you actually work! :)

Thank ya! Don't get used to it, though. As soon as I'm back in your good graces again, I'll have a lot of slacking off to catch up on.

In the meantime I have to look busy. That said, I searched around for news about Enos going to DVD and zeroed out. Sonny's site still has the campaign appeal on it, but there's no new progress to report.

YouTube has a couple of Enos clips, and in reviewing those, one might understand why WB hasn't been in a hurry to get this thing to the store. The Enos series comes across as outdated, and I'd speculate that it would be perceived as containing stereotypes. Another strike against it is that it only lasted a single season.

Why the hell WB didn't just package Enos with the corresponding Dukes season, and call it "bonus" material I'll never know. It would have snuck under the radar of any disapproving entities and fallen square into the hands of the Dukes fans who would appreciate it. And WB coulda made a few extra bucks.

Maybe, just maybe, WB will eventually come out with a "complete series boxed set - collector's edition" for the Dukes of Hazzard, and include the Enos series. Until then, all I can offer is a YouTube link with a short clip:

Part of being funny is comedic timing. If you want to start throwing custard pies around, go ahead, but if I'm in a situation where we've got staff issues going on, I'm gonna be understandably distracted.

Not every post you make is going to draw a response. That's true for me as well and I don't get hung up about it or push the issue. I simply let it go and post again on another topic.

Of course, if your post is ignored, you could always whine about it and I'll eventually respond out of shallow pity. If that works for ya, we're good.

Okay, now that I have some of my dry humor out, I am going to be serious...
Thank you to all of the moderators and citizens, HazzardNet simply would not be as great as it is. I would like to thank you all for that. With out HazzardNet, I would think I was the only nut out there that believed the Dukes of Hazzard are real, and I'd think I was it... luckily I stumbled on this site and found that there are a lot of people out there who are just as passionate (and more so) about the Dukes. Thank you to MaryAnne, Brian and Meadowmufn for making the site great (even if Brian does sleep alot on the job, I hear!) And, the citizens, too, deserve a round of applause for only continuing to improve the site. I think y'all should get awards, or something.

Anyway, sorry to stray everyone off topic, but I figured that since all three moderators and some of my fellow Hazzardite citizens were included in this thread, there wouldn't be a better place to type it.

So, THANK YOU again, very much!

I'll catch y'all around Hazzard!

Awright, so I just catch up on the thread here, and find discussion remarkin' upon things best unmentioned on a family website. Such as the reputed size of...

...my ego. Ahem. How do these conversations even get started? More importantly, how can we stop them?

And Daney, thanks for defending my....honor, let's call it. I can stand up for myself, but it's nice to have some personal testimonials thrown in.

Not only is my ego of ample porportion - my testimonials are generous.

Watch this post get deleted by MaryAnne in the morning. I couldn't blame her.

Meanwhile.....I can't remember what the hell I was originally gonna post tonight. Heh! Moving right along.....NEXT!

You're welcome, Brian.

Oh, thanks y'all! But, I think that what I was sayin' is what most of the citizens were thinking. So, thanks, but don't thank me, I meant what I said. (referring to my last post)

And, since so much has happened in a couple of days, I am going to cram everything into one post, so y'all hang on...

Brian, I do agree that this site wouldn't be what it is without the whole community, but, I think that you three are brilliant for having thought this up.

Meadowmufn, I apologize for my last comment, I think that I may have just made your life miserable by complimenting Brian, I'll try not to let that happen again!

MaryAnne, Like I said above, I meant every word of what I said. I don't know how y'all thought of creating this site, but you did a marvelous job. I wish I'd have a bright idea like that every now and then!

Lori, we all know that you aren't a bad kid (else you wouldn't be here, right!!)
now you'd better not be gettin' in no trouble at school, ya hear?! But, I agree that the moderators can be quite funny at times.

Cowboy, I agree (again... I need to find a different word for agree!) that there are always new people to meet. That is the great thing about this site is that people come by the dozen to greet a new person. I remember when I signed up, I got a welcome that I was surprised at, because everyone was just so friendly!

B.L. Davenport, you are right, there is a lot of information on here. There are so many different people with so many different backgrounds, that it just makes this site so much better because there are so many different ideas and opinions. And there is a lot of information you can carry with you in everyday life, but that isn't to say the Dukes aren't every day life!

Daney, I,too enjoy watching the community grow. I've only been here since October(I think) but it seems like a I've known this site for a lifetime, and a lot of these people treat you like they've known you all their life. They treat you like a friend they never met!

AlexJackson, You really shouldn't call poor Brian insane! Afterall, he is the moderator! :) Khee! I'm just joking, I guess our appearing insane from time to time isn't so bad. It gives the site character! Oh, and I like your avator! You a MacGyver fan, too?!

I think that covers it.

I'll catch y'all later, and I really enjoy reading all of your posts, everyone, so keep up the good work.
