What lyrics (doesn't have to be whole songs) remind you of characters or events in Hazzard County?

-------------------------------------------
One day I looked into my rear view mirror
And comin' up from behind
There was a Georgia State policeman
And a hundred dollar fine

He looked me in the eye as he was writin' me up
He said "Driver, you been flyin'.
The ninety-five was the route you were on
It was not the speed limit sign."

Gimme Three Steps - Lynyrd Skynyrd

That whole song reminds me Oh Bo Duke when he is with a lady. I can picture something that happening in Hazzard...

(Allen Collins - Ronnie VanZant)
I was cutting the rug
Down at a place called The Jug
With a girl named Linda Lu
When in walked a man
With a gun in his hand
And he was looking for you know who.
He said, "Hey there fellow,
With the hair colored yellow,
Watcha tryin' to prove?
'Cause that's my woman there
And I'm a man who cares
And this might be all for you."

I was scared and fearing for my life.
I was shakin' like a leaf on a tree.
'Cause he was lean and mean,
Big and bad, Lord,
Pointin' that gun at me.
I said, "Wait a minute, mister,
I didn't even kiss her.
Don't want no trouble with you.
And I know you don't owe me
But I wish you'd let me
Ask one favor from you."

(Chorus)
"Won't you give me three steps,
Gimme three steps mister,
Gimme three steps towards the door?
Gimme three steps
Gimme three steps mister,
And you'll never see me no more."

(Chorus)

Well the crowd cleared away
And I began to pray
And the water fell on the floor.
And I'm telling you son,
Well, it ain't no fun
To be lookin' at a forty-four.
Well he turned and screamed at Linda Lu
And that's the break I was looking for.
And you could hear me screaming a mile away
As I was headed out towards the door.

(Chorus)

well I guess this one has some 'Dukes elements' in it.

In the mind of John J. Blanchard
by Tommy Shane Steiner

Fly fishin';
Workin' on that Firebird engine.
Runnin' 99 proof moonshine cross that county line.
3, 2, 1 and ignition: off on some space shuttle mission,
Playin' QB for the Cowboy's:
Getting high on the crowd noise and the bright lights,
'Cause deep inside, things were rockin' in the mind,
Of John J. Blanchard.

Everytime I hear the chorus from Sawyer Brown's song "SOME GIRLS DO" I think of the Duke boys:

"I ain't first class
but I ain't white trash
I'm wild and a little crazy, too
Some girls don't like boys like me
Aww, but some girls do."

And here's Sawyer Brown with the General Lee:

Alabama's "High Cotton" reminds me of the Dukes. Can't think of the lyrics off hand....

Most Waylon Jennings stuff.

George Jones' "White Lightning"

Well North-a-Carolina
way back in the hills
lived my ol' pappy
and he had 'em a still

He brewed white lightning
till the sun went down
then he'd fill 'em a jug
and he'd pass it around

Mighty, mighty pleasin'
Pappy's corn squeezin'

whooooshhhhhhhh....White Lightning!

Well the G-men
T-men
Revenuers too
Searchin' for the place where he made his brew
They were lookin'
tryin' to book 'em
But my pappy kepta cookin'

whooooooooshhhhhhh....White Lightning!

I have 6 cd set called Waylon: the Journey and he sings White Lightening on there. Its reminds me of Dukes too, but I've never heard George Jones sing it.

Well I'll be jiggered. LOL. I didn't know Waylon did a version of White Lightning. The George Jones version is from the late 50's and I think was one of his early hits, if not the first.

I always thought Montgomery Gentry's "Hillbilly Shoes" reminded me of the Dukes. Perhaps it's their attitude. I find a lot of Montgomery Gentry songs reminding me of the Dukes or of Hazzard...especially from their first CD.

Hillbilly Shoes

I was there when the men came, told us all the news
Father forgive them for they know not what they do
'Til they walk a while, a country mile
In my Hillbilly Shoes

You want to judge me by the whiskey on my breath
You think you know me but you ain't seen nothin' yet
'Til you walk a while, a country mile
In my Hillbilly Shoes
In my Hillbilly Shoes

You can work all day in the muck and the mire
Dance a little jig then stomp by the fire
Ain't too much these boots can't do
Might even kick a little sense into you

Well I'm goin' up Cripple Creek, going at a run
Going up Cripple Creek to have a little fun
Lawman say's they found some tracks
People saw 'em leaving but they never come back

Oh, you don't know me
You don't know, you don't know, you don't know
'Til you walk a while, a country mile
In my Hillbilly Shoes
In my Hillbilly Shoes.
