Hey, I know that alot of you out there are as crazy about Smokey and the Bandit, just as Dukes so...I was wondering if ya'll out there could give me some info about Bandit's trans-am, like was it's name "Trigger", and what year it was. Thanks.

I thought it was a 1978 model
Apparantly the main driving sequence car had the 454ci from one of the 55 Chevvys used in 'American Grafitti' & 'Two-Lane Blacktop' installed

It was a 1977 Trans Am used in Smokey & The Bandit. The movie came out in May 1977 and the 78 models were not available yet.
Look at the scenes when they get to Texarkana and the Coors warehouse. There are Red, White, and Blue banners on the building. They were there because it was filmed right around America's Bicentennial July 4, 1976. You can't have a 78 car in 76.
It was also Pontiac's way of promoting their 50th anniversary .
Hope this helps...
