"Do we have to tell him? Couldn't you just let me off with a warning or something?" Stepping out of the police car, Georgia Duke turned and faced the Sheriff. This was the third time in two weeks that she had been brought home by Enos. If her father found out...well...to say that he would be angry would be an understatement.

Shaking his head, Enos headed towards the front door. He hated to do it, but he had to. He was the Sheriff now and it was his job to keep order. Besides, he had given Georgia a warning three days ago. Still...it couldn't be easy for her...her mother dying...having to leave her home...moving to Hazzard.

No. No. He had to be strong. He had to be authoritative. He had to set an example. Otherwise noone was ever going to take him seriously. And if that meant telling Luke Duke that his daughter had been found spray painting the side of the Boar's Nest, than that was what it meant.

Georgia sighed and leaned back against the railing. At sixteen, she had the rebel without a cause thing down pat. As Enos knocked, she moved her gaze down to her shoes. Amazing how fascinating every day things became when you needed them to be.
****

Walking towards the door, Luke just knew he wouldn't like what he found. After all, good news rarely came this close to midnight. Pulling open the door, his frown deepened as he saw Enos there. "Enos..."

"Sorry to disturb you, Luke. I know you all are still settling in...but well...I found her spray painting the Boar's Nest..."

Luke stared blankly at Georgia for a minute, "You spray painted the Boar's Nest?"

Enos still was his same goofy, lovable self. "That's what I said Luke. I thought that it'd be best if I just brought her home."

"Thanks Enos. Go into the living room Georgia," he spoke sternly.

"Don't mention it Luke. I'll leave you all be, goodnight." With that Enos tipped his hat and started away from the house to his car.

"Goodnight," Luke called out to Enos and quietly shut the door. Enquiring his best Jesse Duke disappointment face he joined his daughter in the living room. "Well what do you have to say for yourself?"

For a split second, Georgia wondered what would happen if she just ignored her father's question and headed off to her room. But that idea disappeared as quickly as it came for she knew whatever happened, it wouldn't be pretty.

"I don't know." She shrugged. "I was bored?" And I hate it here...

runningwild
08-22-2005, 05:11 AM
"Bored?!" his temper rose, "So for the past two weeks you've been nothing but BORED?" Luke stratched his chin and sat across from her. "Tell me Georgia can't you humor yourself legally without having to run Enos to death to bring your home?"

Luke knew that when he was her age and well on down the years he'd been a handful himself along with Bo. Thinking back on it now he wasn't sure how Uncle Jesse put up with it.

virginiaxduke
08-22-2005, 05:16 AM
So maybe it wasn't so much boredom as protest, but Georgia wasn't about to correct that fact now. "Of course I'm bored. In case you haven't noticed...there's nothing to do here. Not to mention that all my friends now live an hour away." She leaned back in her chair and looked at him. "I don't see why we had to move here..."

"This is where I grew up. I love Hazzard and I thought maybe my children would love it too." Luke shook his head, "After spending your life in Atlanta I knew this transition wouldn't be easy but, I NEVER expected you to pull fool stunts like the one you did tonight."

There was plenty to do in Hazzard Bo and Luke had always ran the back roads with ease. Why couldn't Luke's own children enjoy good fun like that.

"Why do you got to go and rattle my nerves. This is hard for me to you know." For the first time Luke had somewhat opened up to his daughter.

virginiaxduke
08-22-2005, 05:27 AM
Georgia frowned, not sure she liked where this was going. She wanted her Dad to open up to her, she really did...but she wasn't sure she was ready for it. Stiffening just a bit, she looked at him. "I know...but you at least have Uncle Bo. I don't have anyone."

That also wasn't entirely true. She had her brother and her sister, but they didn't count.

(OOC: Luke's other two kids are up for grabs if anyone wants to control them)

08-22-2005, 05:36 AM
Luke thought about what she said, "Yeah I do have your Uncle Bo but, you've got to understand he'd got his own family now and I'm trying to raise my kids." He paused.

Just sitting here and talking to her was difficult for him especially because of the topic.

"You've got whoever you want, Honey, you just got to let 'em know." Being a dad was a challenge and Luke liked challenges. "If your not interested in your brother and sister, which I don't understand why you wouldn't be." He sighed, "They don't have to be exactly your age to have fun."

08-22-2005, 02:04 PM
Georgia looked down at her nails, picking at the purple polish that covered them. "I know that but...I don't know. Nevermind." She stood. "I should probably be getting to bed anyway. First day in a new school tomorrow and all of that, right?" She smiled weakly and headed off to her room.

They'd finish that conversation another time. When both of them were more ready for it.
****

The next morning, Georgia slept as late as possible. By the time she was up, Bo was already at the house and talking with Luke.

"I'm tellin' ya, Cuz. I think we could win this one. Give the General Lee one last go before we really get too old to race..."

runningwild
08-22-2005, 05:50 PM
Luke grinned when he heard Bo, "Too old, huh? You've got a point." He was seriously considering this.

"Lucas I know you love racin' it's right up there with your kids," he winked.

"You've got that right," he had to admit it. "Alright..." he said after a few silent seconds. "We'll let the General have one last go...I mean it's only fair."

Bo grinned, "Yeeeeeehaw!. Luke this is gonna be like the old days..."

"Not exactly," a familiar grin settled on his face. "We might still be racin' but neither of us will be doing our usual girl chasin'."

Shaking his head Bo replied, "You got me there, Cuz." He understood that Luke might not be ready to date. (Assuming this is meant like your Rp..and Luke's wife died.)

Luke had a hint of sadness about him and sighed as Bo agreed with him, "I was always the sensable one.."

Bo laughed, "I guess. But, Luke just so you know Cassie told me if we were going to race again she'd come to the track..." That's all he said about it.

"What does that have to do with anything?" he asked a bit shakey.

"Lucas it's got everything to do with something, mainly you," Bo flashed a grin. "She never got married."

Luke took in everything that Bo had said but at the same time tried to ignore it. Hearing Georgia getting ready for school, "Georgia. Don't be late for school."

(I didn't know what ages Luke's other childeren were and I didn't want to make them up just in case you already had it planned out.)

virginiaxduke
08-22-2005, 05:58 PM
(Actually, I don't. Like I said...I just kind of know they're there. Poor neglected children)

"Yeah yeah yeah..." She came down the stairs. "You don't need to shout." She looked at her father and Bo and shook her head, reaching in the fridge for a soda.

"Well aren't you just a ball of sunshine..." Bo grinned. "You're sure to make friends in no time."

The glare she responded with could have killed a lesser man. Besides, Georgia had no intention of actually making it to school. Oh no. She would leave for school...yes...but after that it was anyone's guess.

runningwild
08-22-2005, 06:15 PM
Luke smiled, "Be open minded, Honey. Okay? I'm sure Hazzard High will interest you." He shrugged, "Is your brother up and ready?" Luke's other children were 8 and 3.

Before Georgia could answer a little boy came barrelling out of the kitchen, "Dad, I'm hungry."

"I"ll have your breakfast on the table.." Luke started in the kitchen knowing that Bo would follow. "Come and eat something Georgia."

Bo russelled Luke's son's hair, "Howdy Little Man, are you ready for school?"

The little boy sounded excited, "Yeah Uncle Bo, I can't wait for recess."

"When I was your age neither could I," Bo laughed and sat down in an empty chair.

Luke was scrapping some grits out of a pot on the stove filling up two bowls. Placing both bowls on the table he put a spoon and piece of toast with each serving.

"You want something, Bo?"

virginiaxduke
08-22-2005, 06:21 PM
"I'm not hungry." She popped open the can of soda. "I'll just grab a candy bar or something." Nutrition was often lost on teenagers. "Besides, I don't want to be late." She gave what was probably the most fake smile in existance and headed for the door.

Bo couldn't help but laugh -- he did wait til Georgia was gone, though. "You know she's not gonna make it there, right?" He and Luke had done this enough times themselves that he knew all the warning signs.

08-22-2005, 06:36 PM
"Yep," he sighed. "I'm not going to stop her though, atleast not yet.." His daughter was being extremely difficult when it came to living in Hazzard.

"Kids will be kids," Bo shook his head, "I wish she wouldn't give you a hard time though your just one man Luke and with her mama gone.."

"Thanks Bo. I'm handling my family the best I can.." he patted his son's shoulder as he stood over him. "If Uncle Jesse could raise us and Daisy I think I can raise Georgia, Keith, and Emma just fine."

Keith finished his breakfast and wiped his mouth, "I'm full."

"Go brush your teeth and comb your hair and then I'll drop you off at school." Luke put the dirty bowl in the sink.

"Mind watching Emma while I take him to school?" Luke asked Bo.

virginiaxduke
08-22-2005, 06:53 PM
"Sure." Bo grinned, Emma was the easy one. "You drive Keith to school and I'll chill here with the munchkin. I assume she's parked in front of Barney?" He looked at his cousin.

08-22-2005, 07:28 PM
"She loves it," he smiled. "I'll be back shortly. Keith grab your bag." Luke grabbed his truck keys off of the counter.

Keith obeyed by running off into his room and returning with a backpack, "Bye Uncle Bo," he said as he hurried out the front door ahead of his father.

"Bye!," he waved to his nephew as he joined his neice in the living room.

Luke got in the truck and got Keith settled in before turning the ignition and putting it in gear. Puling out of the yard he headed for Hazzard Grade School.

08-22-2005, 07:44 PM
Bo settled in next to his neice for some quality TV time...though Bo didn't really understand how kids could watch that. "So, Miss Emma," he grinned at his neice. "What is going on with you?"
***

Just as Luke and Bo suspected, Georgia was far from school. She was actually at Cooter's. "So...think you can get her running?" She peered over his shoulder into the engine of the car she had brought him.

"Of course I can." He gave her a 'what are you, crazy' look.

"How soon?"

runningwild
08-22-2005, 09:12 PM
Emma clapped her hands and looked at her Uncle Bo, "Barney!" Her speech was very good for a child her age. Pointing to the screen she squealed.

Bo laughed and stared at the screen, "Well atleast the shows educational," he said mostly to himself.

-----------------------------------

Cooter thought about it for a second, "Tomorrow afternoon." He nodded and grabbed a rag to wipe his hands.

Georgia looked somewhat please, "Thanks Cooter."

Raising an eyebrow he leaned against the car, "Ain't you suppose to be at schooll?"

virginiaxduke
08-23-2005, 02:32 AM
"Technically." She grinned. "But I think Hazzard High can survive one more day without me. Besides, I wanted to make sure I got this taken care of." She NEEDED a car. And more than that she needed a FAST car. Everything depended on it. Especially her not going crazy. "Promise me you won't rat me out?"

runningwild
08-23-2005, 03:00 AM
Cooter lifted his hat and put it back on snug, "Georgia.." Thinking back to a time when he wouldn't want to be ratted out for skipping school. Sighing he shook his head, "Don't make me regret it but, I won't rat you out."

Georgia smiled despite of herself and Cooter's loyalty to the name Duke.

-------------------------------------------

Luke pulled up to the Grade School, "Have a good day." He smiled at Keith waiting for his farewell.

"Thanks Dad," Keith said in sincererity. He was a good kid. "I'll see you after school." Opening the truck door he hopped out with his stuff. "Bye."

"Bye," he lifted his hand to wave. As Keith shut the door behind him Luke watched him cross the school yard. Putting the truck back in drive he drove off and headed back home to relieve Bo from his Emma duties.

08-23-2005, 03:10 AM
"Cooter, you're the best. I'll be back for her tomorrow..." She was practically giddy as she left the mechanic's shop. She was going to have the greatest car in Hazzard...well except for the general.
****

And before Luke knew it, Keith was gone -- disappearing into the building with all the other kids. He wouldn't have a problem. He was good with people -- just like his mother.

Cassie had been heading over to Cooter's to ask him something about her car when she caught sight of Georgia coming out of the garage. "Is Cooter busy?" she asked kindly not knowing who the girl was.

---------------------------------

The school wasn't far from Luke's house so in only a matter of minutes and Luke's back road driving he was back home. Coming through the front door his daughter and cousin were both absorbed in the TV.

"Bo, please tell me that your not actually enjoying that?" Looking over at the TV a new episode of Barney was on.

Turning around he grinned, "I'm a simple minded man Luke and this is more on my level."

"I don't doubt it," shaking his head he looked over at Emma, "Emma are you hungry?"

Without turning away from the TV she answered, "Yeah."

Remembering the breakfast he had fixed for Georgia he went over and picked his daughter up. "Come on you can have grits and toast."

Graciously excepting her breakfast she sat at the table and fed herself when Luke presented her with the bowl and spoon.

virginiaxduke
08-23-2005, 03:27 AM
Though as soon as she was done, she used the spoon to begin banging on her bowl. She just LOVEd giving concerts.

"Yeah. Afraid so. Emergency job just came in." So she was lying. Big deal. She did not want Cooter getting distracted away from her car.

08-23-2005, 03:33 AM
Bo had followed father and daughter into the kitchen, "Whoa slow down," he grabbed the spoon from Emma while Luke washed the dishes in the sink. "Here you go, Cuz," he dropped her bowl and spoon into the dish water.

Emma didn't seem too discouraged to lose her instrument she mostly stayed quiet afterwards.

Luke sat the last spoon out to dry, "What are you plans today?" he asked Bo.

---------------------------------------

Cassie looked a bit discouraged, "Oh well I guess I'll ask Bo Duke to take a look at my car." She hadn't seen Luke since he moved back and for some reason didn't seem to mind.

virginiaxduke
08-23-2005, 03:38 AM
"Bo Duke? You know Bo Duke?" Georgia wasn't sure why she was surprised -- every one in Hazzard knew him...and her Dad. "Nevermind, silly question. He's at his cousins."

runningwild
08-23-2005, 03:45 AM
"Daisy's?" for some reason she automatically assumed this having pushed Luke from her mind. The girl seemed to be chock full of information.

-----------------------------------

Bo shrugged, "I'm suppose to go into to town to pick a few things up for Jill. Other than that it's a slow day."

Luke nodded, "I thought about heading into to town and see if there's anything that I might need that I just haven't got yet."

"We could go together," Bo would have liked some company and Luke would give it to him. "If you didn't want to take Emma we could drop her by my place to stay with Jill.

virginiaxduke
08-23-2005, 03:52 AM
Luke nodded, "What do you think, Em? Want to go see your aunt Jill?"

"Yea!" The little girl threw her hands in the air, excited. She loved Aunt Jill. She always had cookies.

"All right, then." Luke smiled at Bo. "We'll drop her off and then head out."
***

"No." Georgia shook her head. "My Dad's." She extended her hand. "Georgia Lynn Duke."

08-23-2005, 04:01 AM
Cassie extended her hand and shook Georgia's, "Cassie Morgan." She smiled pulled away from Georgia, "Luke's daughter? You look like him." Nodding she had to admit that the girl did resemble her father.

"Aren't you suppose to be in school?" This wasn't the first time someone asked Georgia that today. Except, when Cassie asked she had a sly smirk on her face.

------------------------------------

Bo nodded, "We'll take the General," he smirked. "Old times.." Both men had to admit that they loved that car. Luke had let Bo keep the orange trademark of Hazzard when he moved to Atlanta, it was only fair.

Picking up his daughter Luke followed Bo out of the front door and got themselves settled into the General Lee. With a roar they were down the dirt road in a hurry.

08-23-2005, 04:17 AM
Before too long they were one toddler lighter and roaring off towards town.

Georgia nodded. "What can I say? School was cancelled."

08-23-2005, 05:25 AM
Putting the pedal to the metal Bo floored it as he pulled away from his home and headed full speed towards town. The Duke boys were at it again.

--------------------------------

Raising an eyebrow, "I never known a Duke to lie," she shook her head. "I guess there's a first time for everything."

Shrugging she watched Georgia, "Let me be the first to tell you I know that there's school today and I don't care that your skipping. Just thought I'd make conversation." Cassie still had her usual sass about her and since she never married and had kids of her own didn't have the motherly instinct she should have.

virginiaxduke
08-23-2005, 05:32 AM
"Oh...well in that case..." Georgia grinned and there was no doubt she was a Duke. "I just didn't feel like going. Hazzard isn't exactly my cup of tea, you know?"

runningwild
08-23-2005, 05:38 AM
"If your from the city then I can understand that,' nodding she agreed and crossed her arms. "So your skipping school and giving your daddy a hard time?" A part of her was disappointed in Georgia, "What would your mama say?" Everyone knew that Luke's wife had died and there was a lingering silence about it around Hazzard.

---------------------------------

Straightening the curves and flatting the hill Bo and Luke were racing nothing but the countryside. Each boy was remembering the good times they had way back when and enjoying a ride in the General Lee.

"I don't think we've lost our touch," Luke said proudly.

"Yeeeehaw!" Bo hit the horn as they jumped a dip in the rode. "Of course not...it's like riding a bike you never forget."

Nodding Luke grinned enjoying every bit of the outing, "For once I think your right."

"Cute, real cute Luke," he shook his head as the first houses in town came into view.

08-23-2005, 03:05 PM
Georgia stiffened at the mention of her mother. It was a subject she didn't want to talk about...especially with someone she barely knew. "Does it matter? She's not here." It was cold...and kind of *****y...but it was better than crying.

She just stood there, looking at Cassie when a familiar orange car came into sight. Great. Just Great.
****

"Well it is *you* we're talking about, cousin."

Bo looked at him but chose to remain silent. He was not going to get into with Luke. Besides...he knew he was right. Coming up to Coother's he squealed into a stop just milimeters away from Cassie.

runningwild
08-23-2005, 06:24 PM
"I guess you've got a point," Cassie snapped back in a calm way. At the sound of tires squealing her heart jumped and she turned around to see the General Lee behind her. "Bo Duke are you trying to kill me?"

Bo stuck his head out and let his body follow as he sat on the window, "I would never.." He grinned.

Rolling her eyes Cassie responded, "Riight.."

Luke in the same fashion as Bo sat on the passenger's side window of the General, "I see you've found my delinquent."

Looking back at Georgia Cassie smiled despite the girl's attitude, "More like distracted away from school." Shrugging she went on, "I saw her admiring a few things in my store window so I invited her in. She introduced herself and we got to talking. Then I invited her to breakfast but, she refused saying she was going to be late for school. Being the hard headed thing I am insisted and now here we are."

There was no way Cassie could see Georgia's expression but, Luke could. "That was nice of you." He smiled, "I guess I'm not too mad just a little disappointed."

Bo laughed, "That's something you'll have to get over Luke," lifting his feet out of the car he put them on the ground.

Luke shook his head and laughed slightly, "Your right." Putting both feet on the ground he leaned against the car. "So Georgia..I guess you won't be heading to school at all, then?"

virginiaxduke
08-23-2005, 08:55 PM
"Nah, kind of looks like it would be a lost cause." She smiled and shrugged. She was shocked that Cassie had covered for her but she couldn't say anything without landing herself in trouble.

"All right then." Bo grinned and hopped down. "Would you ladies care to join us...we're headed to run some errands."

08-23-2005, 10:00 PM
Cassie shrugged, "I was going to see Cooter about my car but, I think you boys could look at it just the same." She smiled and looked at Georgia giving her the 'what could it hurt' look.

Bo grinned again, "Well great both of you can help me pick out a microwave. Jill swears we need a new one."

"She nagged and nagged knowing that you'd run out and get her one," Luke smiled, "I know how that is."

There was a moment of silence, "Well come on let's go," Cassie dropped back and linked arms with Georgia, "Come on."

They all started down the sidewalk and passed a cute little boutique, it was Cassie's. "Maybe if you quit givin' your Daddy a hard time we could arrange for you to get whatever you wanted out of there?" Grinning she thought about what she was doing.

Luke opened his mouth to protest, "I don't think.." Cassie quickly cut him off, "I know Lukas," she smirked. Everyone had a laugh over it. As Luke reddened in the face slightly he tried to speak again, "So you finally got back into designing?"

Nodding Cassie knew she hadn't finished college but was very successful, "That I did. I'm one of the best. I just don't put myself out there." She didn't mention that her line ran through shops in New York and California. She was a simple girl and didn't like all the flashy couture that was out nowadays.

Bo put his arm around her, "That's what we love about you. High class, high maintence but still a Hazzard girl at heart."

08-24-2005, 03:38 AM
Georgia frowned, watching the adults. "I...I think I'm going to go." She pulled away from Cassie and stepped back. She did not like this, not at all.

Bo frowned, watching his neice. He hated what Abigail's death had done to them all.

Everyone had stopped and focused their attention on Georgia. "Where are you planning on going?" Luke asked concerned.

Cassie frowned and Bo let his arm drop off of her shoulder. "Yeah Georgia?" He to was concerned about her, his neice.

"Just home. I'm just tired is all." She wished they'd all stop looking at her like she was going to break. She wasn't. She was fine. Or she would be as long as everyone just let her be.

Bo frowned. He didn't like this. But it wasn't his place to say anything. Luke knew her better than he did and well...but if it was one of his kids...they wouldn't be going anywhere.

08-24-2005, 04:14 AM
Luke just stared at her, "I..umm..yeah if that's what you want to do." He nodded unsure of what to really say to her. "Do you need someone to drive you?"

Cassie felt sorry for Luke he was struggling with this and just wanted to make his daughter happy.

virginiaxduke
08-24-2005, 04:18 AM
"Nah. I'm fine." She grabbed her bag and headed off. Walking along the road that headed out of town, she fought back tears. This was crazy. She was not going to cry. She didn't cry then and she wasn't going to cry now.

She needed something to do. Anything. She headed for the Boar's Nest.

Bo frowned. "You think she's gonna be okay? Maybe I should call Jill and have Jill check on her?" He didn't like this at all. "Has she been like this ever since...?"

08-24-2005, 04:23 AM
Luke sighed staring at his cousin, "Yeah and I can't help her.." He sounded so defeated. "It kills me to see her like that so, yeah could you please have Jill check on her.."

"Luke...don't get down on yourself," she wanted to hug him but, didn't know if it would be out of line or what not. Cassie was at a loss for words as she stared at him. He looked helpless.

08-24-2005, 04:25 AM
"I'll make the call..." Bo headed into the garage and picked up Cooter's phone, calling Jill. After a brief explination, he hung up. "She's gonna head right over."

Entering the Boar's Nest, Georgia took a seat in the back. She needed a plan. Sitting here all day wasn't going to do her any good.

runningwild
08-24-2005, 04:34 AM
Cassie smiled, "See nothing to worry about," she grasped Luke's shoulder and gave it a squeeze of reassurance.

"Thanks Bo," he paused, "Makes this set a bit easier on my mind. So now what about that microwave." The change of conversation and setting might make him feel better.

----------------------------

A waitress at the Boar's Nest came over to Georgia, "Can I get you something?" The girl didn't look much older than Georgia but did look more cheerful.

virginiaxduke
08-24-2005, 04:45 AM
"Right. Microwave." Bo turned to Cassie. "Know anything about microwaves? All I know is that you press a button and food comes out. I'm not sure that qualifies me to pick one out, though."
***

"Something strong." She wasn't picky.

runningwild
08-24-2005, 04:56 AM
Cassie shrugged, "I'm a woman of course I know about microwaves." She sounded playful in her tone. "Direct me to the hardware store and I'll pick you out the best."

Smiling Luke looked at both Bo and Cassie each seemed so cheerful and happy. "Are you sure I wouldn't be a third wheel in this microwave buying date?" Of course Luke was teasing about this. Ever since Cassie had arrived back in town so many years ago she'd slipped back into Bo and Luke's mold with ease. Being easy going and easy to talk to; never had she let either man down at being that.

-----------------------------------------------

The waitress gave Georgia a look, "Coming right up." Disappearing behind the bar the girl had the bartender mix up a drink and in a matter of minutes she was placing the cold glass infront of the customer. "Here you go," she smiled kindly.

virginiaxduke
08-24-2005, 05:09 AM
"You are a goddess, Cass, an absolute goddess." Bo grinned and led them in the direction of the hardware store. He wondered if he shouldn't duck out and leave Luke and Cassie alone. Cassie could turn out to be just what Luke needed.

Bo was sure of that.

"Thanks." Georgia grinned, taking a sip. Well there was at least one upside to living in Hazzard...people were accomodating. Even at 10 in the morning.

runningwild
08-24-2005, 05:17 AM
"Oh I know," she grinned. Since they'd walked a little more down the sidewalk it wasn't long until they found themselves outside of the hardware/appliance store. "What color is your kitchen?" Cassie asked as she lead both men inside and over to the microwaves. This detail was very important.

Luke followed without saying a word, "I think I'm going to go look for some nails," he disappeared down another isle and left Bo and Cassie standing there.

----------------------------------

Just as the waitress had left a young man looking about twenty entered the Boar's Nest. He was just passing through Hazzard on his way to Atlanta, "Can I get a beer?" His order was placed as he passed the bar and spotted Georgia sitting all by herself. Smiling he joined her, "What's a pretty little thing like you doing sitting alone?"

Cassie had to laugh, "I just wanted to see you think about." It was a hobby of hers to give someone a hard time. The only thing was it had to be someone she was good friends with. Looking at the choices before them she concentrated. "I think..this one," she pointed to a white one down at the bottom. "I'm almost positive that Jill will appreciate this one."

-----------------------------------

The stranger grinned, "I just might be, Darlin'." While the waitress was bringing his beer he extended his hand, "Dean Wallace." Georgia was very beautiful to him and he didn't even know her name.

"Then that's the one we'll get." He grabbed the box and grinned. "Now all we have to do is find Luke." Bo shook his head. "I'm worried about him, Cass. Think you're up to doing me a favor?"

"Georgia Lynn." She left off the Duke. It tended to scare people off. "What brings you to Hazzard, Mr. Wallace?"

"Bo I've already picked out your microwave what more do you want?" Cassie winked, "But I think I could do one more thing for you."

Dean smiled, "Well Georgia I happen to be passing through Hazzard on my way to Atlanta and it's just Dean." He nodded sitting back in his chair taking a sip of beer. "What has you sitting here all by yourself?" It seemed only fair that she share something of the nature with him.

"See if you can talk to Luke. I'm worried about him. He needs someone to talk to, Cass. And for some reason he isn't talking to me." Bo frowned.

"Did you say Atlanta?" Georgia perked up. "You wouldn't want company on that ride, would you?"

"What makes you think he'll open up to me over you?" Cassie wanted to help Bo help Luke but she was skeptical. "I mean your his kin and I'm just me." It wasn't unusual for Cassie to doubt herself and this time was no exception.

Dean grinned, "I just might if your lookin' to tag along." Not only was he allowed to sit with the pretty girl but she wanted to go with him to Atlanta. "What's in Atlanta?"

"Family. My mom's parents." She looked at him. "I'd really appreciate it."

Hearing the plea in Bo's voice was something that Cassie couldn't say no to, "Okay. You go pay and I'll find him." Bo nodded.

Walking down the isle she turned and started looking for the elder Duke cousin. After a few empty isles she spotted him staring at none of than the boxes of nails. "I didn't know it was this hard to choose nails?"

Luke looked up, "Well it ain't I got sidetracked."

"Oh really?" standing beside Luke she smiled, "You can get the nails before you leave town. Let's go get some coffee."

Giving her a confused look he had to give in, "Okay. Coffee sounds good."

---------------------------------------

"I'd really appreciate the company," he smiled halfway through his beer. "Just let me know just as soon as your ready to get back on the road and we'll be heading to Atlanta." Picking up his glass he took a long drink out of it.

Bo resisted the urge to do a happy dance. His plan was working. Paying for the microwave, he loaded it into the car before going to see Cooter.
***

Luke followed Cassie out of the store and over to the diner. It didn't take him long to notice Bo was absent. Shaking his head, he slid into a both beside her.

"Right now." Georgia looked up. "I could leave this very second."

Cooter had his head underneath the hood of Georgia's car when he heard someone enter the garage. Sticking his head out he caught sight of Bo, "Well if it isn't ol' Bo Weevil." He smirked and and set down his wrench picking up his rag to wipe his dirty hands. "What can I do for ya?"

----------------------------

"Spill it Lukas," she said. "I can tell that your eatin' yourself alive in there," Cassie wasn't much for being casual about approaching a subject. "And Bo tells me you won't talk to him or anybody. I'm worried about you."

"Well then Little Lady let's go," downing the rest of his beer Dean stood and held out his arm for Georgia to take. "I wouldn't want to keep you waiting."

"It's nothing, Cass. Really. I just...I haven't felt much like talking lately. There's nothing to talk about. 'Cept maybe how to keep a handle on a sixteen year old."

Cooter knew he wasn't suppose to say anything about Georgia but he had to let Bo in on the owner of this sweet ride. "I ain't suppose to tell anybody..but I ain't about to keep you in the dark." He paused. "It's Georgia's. She came earlier and asked me to work on it."

---------------------------

"Honey, there's lots to talk about you just can't put all of it in words," she smiled. "And as for handling your daughter..I can't really tell you how to do that. I ain't her Mama..but I am willing to talk to her if you ever need me to." Sighing she saw the waitress come over, "Two coffees please."

Without looking at Luke she stayed silent for a few seconds, "It's funny how things turn out.." She said randomly.

----------------------------

"I know," he grinned and paid for both of their beers as they passed the tender telling him to 'keep the change'. Exiting the Boar's Nest Dean lead Georgia over to a red Corvette. Opening the passenger side door he waited for her to get in.

Now if anything, word spread fast in Hazzard. Most people knew who Georgia was and knew there was a good chance she was not supposed to be with some boy none of them had ever seen before.

So within minutes, there were calls out on the Hazzard Net looking for Bo or Luke.

Cooter grabbed the radio, looking at Bo. "This is Crazy Cooter. I got Bo Duke here with me. What's on your mind?"

"Tell Bo to grab his cousin and head for the Boar's Nest...we got some trouble. Luke's daughter is gone....headed for Atlanta."

"Dang! Thanks, Boys." Bo hung up and slipped in the General, headed for the diner. They didn't have time to waste....

Luke looked at Cassie, head tilted. 'How's that?"

Cassie smiled, "I knew you were happy and that made me happy." She was talking about when Luke got married and left Hazzard. "Now..I can look at you and your not the same.."

Bo burst into the diner, "Luke!" Both pairs of eyes in the booth shot up. "What is it, Bo?" Luke was surprised at Bo's entrance.

"It's Georgia she's heading for Atlanta with a stranger." Bo was sorry that he had to interupt Cassie's favor to him but this was more important.

Luke's eyes got wide as he grabbed Cassie's hand, "We've got to stop her.." Pulling her with him as he followed Bo to the General Lee with a swift motion he picked the woman up and slide her inside then put himself in. Bo slide in the driver's side and cranked the orange car and sent it roaring down the road towards the Boar's Nest.

"Why does she always have to pull stunts like this?" Luke asked to no on imperticular.

Cassie laughed, "Sorry guys." Both men had turned to look at her, "This just seems like a soap I watch on TV..." Leave it to Cassie to blurt out the most awkard thing possible. "Luke..there's got to be a bright side to this, Honey." Her hand found his and she gave it a squeeze hoping that Bo wouldn't notice.

08-25-2005, 02:44 AM
"Really? Cause if you know how, I'd love to hear it..." Luke was just about at the end of his patience. When he got a hold of Georgia, he was going to wring her neck.

Bo frowned and concentrated on driving. They didn't even know what kind of car they were looking for other than it was a truck and it had left the Boar's Nest five minutes ago. "Uhhh...Luke...just in case we don't catch up...which I'm sure we will...do you want to call Abby's parents and warn them Georgia might be showing up."

08-25-2005, 02:52 AM
Cassie wanted to give Luke the bright side and somewhere inside of her knew that she couldn't. "Well..maybe when you catch her you'll finally get her to open up?" Great. That was the best answre she could come up with.

Luke shook his head, "I hope so.." Considering Bo's words he sighed, "Yeah, that would be the best thing to do. I want them to keep her there if she shows up. Because so help me when I catch up with her..." Ringing with rage he didn't finish his sentence.

Bo nodded. He hated seeing Luke so angry and normally he would have tried to calm his cousin down, but a part of him felt like Luke needed to be angry. He and Georgia needed to fight -- once and for all they needed to get it out.

Slowing down a tiny bit, he decided to let Georgia get to Atlanta. It was the best thing...he was sure of it.
****

So an hour and a long silence later, the General stopped in front of one of the most beautiful homes Bo had ever seen. An older man was sitting on the front porch, smoking a cigar. Edward. Abigail's father.

Seeing the orange car, he came down off the porch and towards Luke. "Lukas..."

"Nice to meet you," she held out her hand.

"Has Georgia been by here?" Luke asked forgetting his manners while Edward was being introduced to Cassie.

"Inside. She just got here." In truth, Edward wasn't surprised. When he saw Georgia show up, he knew Luke had to be close behind. "I think my wife has her in the kitchen feeding her. You know how she is..." He opened the door and ushered them inside.

With a smile he nodded to Cassie. He wanted to let her know that he had seen her but that this was not the time for nicities.

Luke lead the way into the house of which he knew the layout so well. Coming through the kitchen doorway he stood there staring at his daughter and mother-in-law. "What in the he-- were you thinking?" It was obvious Luke wasn't going to hold back on his anger.

Edward had followed behind Luke which left Bo and Cassie to follow. Standing so each of them could see Cassie moved infront of Bo for a better look knowing that he could easily see over her head. No problem.

"Lukas, please..." His mother-in-law frowned at his language. Still, she understood his anger. It was never a good thing when your child ran away. She put more coffee on to brew.

"I was thinking that I'd rather be here! You knew that! You KNEW I hated Hazzard! I don't want to live there!"

08-25-2005, 08:51 PM
Luke took in everything thing she was saying and actually found that he really did already know that. "I don't think it was your decision!" He didn't know what to say to her. "What's so bad about Hazzard? You won't even give it a chance!" His emotion was rising, "Is this some way to get back at the world because your mama died?! Because if it is then you need give it up right now. Your not getting anything accomplished by being difficult."

08-26-2005, 01:23 AM
Then Luke said " Honey I know you don't like living in Hazzard but you can't leave on your own you is too young and i can't bring back your mama and you ain't the only one who is hurting from her Death".

Then Georgia said " I Know that Daddy but i don't fit in in Hazzard i'm a nobody the only thing that i have going for me is that people know that I'm Luke Duke's Daughter and that is my only reason for living their.

virginiaxduke
08-26-2005, 02:36 AM
"Do you know what that's like!"Georgia had pushed back the chair to the table and was standing. "Do you have any idea what it feels like to have your only identity be that of Luke Duke's daughter? There is nothing for me in Hazzard! Nothing!"

08-28-2005, 09:02 PM
"Them make a name for yourself! Don't live in my shadow!," they were actually screaming at each other. Somehow it might've felt good. "You won't even give it a chance so how do you know that there's nothing?! Why do you have to be so da-- hard headed?" As he stood toe to toe with his daughter Luke wondered how this was going to turn out. "STOP! feeling sorry for yourself and live a little!" By saying this Luke somehow became a hypocrite.

virginiaxduke
08-28-2005, 09:30 PM
Georgia couldn't help it, she just started laughing. A cold, bitter laugh. "Live...you mean like you're doing? The whole reason you moved us to Hazzard is so that you could hide! You don't want to deal with life anymore than I do and you know it!"

08-28-2005, 09:52 PM
"This is the only thing I knew before Abby," he sighed toning down a little bit. He was opening up and the emotions weren't running as high. "Georgia I didn't know what to do..so I brought my kids to the only place I knew. I'm just as human as you are..and I'm sorry that I've ruined your life..I'm sorry that Abigail died..I'm sorry that I couldn't be there for you.."

Bo and Cassie stared at Luke as they watched a helpless man break down and it was a heart breaking sight. Was this really how both of them planned to spend their day getting caught up in a rift between father and daughter.

Luke sighed, "And I don't expect you to know..but I'd like to know if you ever figure it out.." This little moment was ending fast as Luke squeezed past Bo and Cassie exiting the house. Heading to the General he put both hands on the hood and hung his head.

Bo looked at everyone in the kitchen, "Should we just let him go?" Leave it to Bo to break a silence.

Georgia shrugged and his mother-in-law shook her head. "He feels alone...he doesn't actually need to be alone."

Giving the three in her kitchen a warm smile, she addressed her granddaughter. "He needs you, love. He needs you more than he will admit but at the same time he doesn't know what to do with you. And this...running away is only going to make it harder in the end. Give Hazzard a chance. A REAL chance and if you don't like it...well...my door is always open."

Georgia opened her mouth to say something but her grandfather cut her off. "Your grandmother has a point, Georgia. Your place is with him. Now go on..."

She nodded and headed outside to join Luke. "Dad. I...I'm sorry."

Luke couldn't turn around to face his daughter he was ashamed of how he had broke down infront of her and everyone. He was too strong for that. "I don't think being sorry is going to fix this..." speaking in all honesty he sighed. "I probably should of kept the family here." Pausing Luke turned around. "Instead I did run to Hazzard because I needed it and I thought that maybe we could start over." Sighing again Luke stopped not knowing where he was going with this.

Bo looked at her funny, "I didn't do nothing."

"You looked after Luke that was a lot," she smiled and kissed Bo on the cheek. If he hadn't been married she'd kissed him on the mouth. "If he's happy I'm happy."

"I think so." He was tired and it showed. He had never really doubted himself before...but he wasn't sure he could do this. Not alone. At least when he had Abby there was two of them...now there was just him.

"It'll get easier, Cousin. I promise. And you have me, Jill, and Cassie here to help you."

Either Luke was imagining things or Bo had put a special emphasis on Cassie's name. Looking over at the woman in question, Luke smiled a little. Maybe...just maybe...

"Can I ask you a favor?"

"Good." He nodded.

Giving him her full attention she waited for him to continue.

"If you would like to go to dinner tonight," he smiled faintly hoping she didn't reject him.

Smiling broader Cassie nodded, "Of course I would, Darlin'."

"I suppose..."

He sighed, "What's wrong now?"

"Nothing. Just tired. It's been a long day."

He nodded. "Well if you're not too tired, Bo and Jill were thinking of having you come see them tonight. Keith and Emma are going."

Luke shook his head and lead his daughter to the car. Everyone got settled the girls in the back and Bo and Luke upfront. The ride was slowed down a bit on the way back.

Bo on the way back in Hazzard dropped off Luke and Ginny first, "I'll be back over later to pick up the kids." Luke nodded, "Alright. We'll see you then." Ginny gave a halfhearted wave as Cassie got in the front and Bo sped out of the driveway to take her home.

"Why did you and Luke break it off in the first place?" Bo asked casually.

Cassie had her mind set on whatever was outside of the window. "Huh?" She was caught off guard by his question. Thinking it over no one had knew why she and Luke had just given up on their relationship. Should she tell him?

Luke pulled out his keys and unlocked the front door, "It's good to be home. So are you staying with Bo and Jill or what?" He asked tossing his keys on coffee table.

virginiaxduke

Sighing Cassie looked down, "We were so happy weren't we?" The question wasn't really meant to be answered. "I told Luke that there was no way we'd work out..that I was somehow using him.." Cassie felt her heart tighten as if it was going to break again. "He couldn't believe it..he tried to find some loophole in what I was saying.."

Looking over at Bo she couldn't find it in herself to smile, "I was two months pregnant and had just miscarried.."

Bo couldn't believe what he was hearing and brought the car to a stop at the side of the road. "What?" His eyes were wide.

Cassie nodded, "I hadn't told Luke I was pregnant, so I didn't think he would forgive me for being careless. The baby wasn't even born yet and I was already a terrible mother.." Pausing Cassie shook her head, "I didn't want Luke to hate me..I wouldn't have been able to take it because I was already hating myself."

"Cass there was nothing you could have done to prevent something like that from happening.." Bo had matured greatly since back then.

"I was addicted to cocaine and pills..lots of pills.." Her eye contact with her longtime friend was broken. "That's what caused the miscarriage.." She sighed, "I had came to Hazzard straight from the inside life of a mobster..you all couldn't really believe that I wasn't still somewhat living in that life.."

"Damn, Cass..." Bo shook his head. "Why didn't you tell anyone? We could have helped you...Luke would have helped you. You know he would have."

Cassie laughed slightly, "I know he would have, but what would you all have thought of me? Doing drugs like that back then was unheard of much less if a woman was doing them."

"I was one hell of a wreck back then, Bo, and Luke was the only one that could make me find some sense in the whole situation I was in.." It was true she had peace with him. "And when I knew I would hurt him with the news I couldn't bare it.."

"Don't tell him. Please?" She had managed to stay calm through the whole conversation and found herself pleading with the blonde Duke cousin.
