yeah if there is the only bad thing i gotta worry about is the 8-10 hr road trip from PA to Bristol  it would be nice if i had a rosco model car to drive down in too....although i did see a good 1978 Monaco for $1,200 ("buy it now" option!) last week on eBay..but if i only had the money :x

does it cost any money at dukesfest? (such as admission, autographs, if you have a dukes car, do you have to pay to drive it on the track etc.)

I'm not sure about entrance fees for cars, I do know that there are admission fees for the gate, as well as autograph fees. Admission for this years festival was like $15 for one day or $25 for the weekend. Autographs usually run between $10 and $20 per actor. The food there is pretty expensive, but I think you can bring in your own cooler, as long as you don't bring glass.

All in all it's a fun time.

Considerin' that Ben (and other cast members) aren't too thrilled with what they did with the movie, I don't think you'll be seein' anyone involved with the movie at DukesFest.

I went to Dukesfest this year and there was an article in one of the local papers that said the movie people tried to get in on Dukesfest this year and Ben Jones wasn't having it. Something about if they didn't want to have anything to do with the original show/cast, why should he allow them to come and promote their movie. I don't remember exactly what it said but something very similar so I really, REALLY doubt the cast of the movie will ever be invited to a Dukesfest.

I've went to Duke Fest the past 3 years. If you haven't been and can go --- I promise you'll have a good time.

I'd hope Ben and the powers that be will stick to their guns and not let the 'new' guys come. I haven't seen the movie yet. I think it will be at our local theater this week -- because of what Ben has said I may not go but if I do it won't effect the box office $$$$ which is all the promotors will look at. I have the ticket from the 3rd season so even IF I do decide to go they won't be getting my money. A sad way to feel about a movie about a show that I loved since show one, BUT I think they should have at least followed the morals the show was based on!

Hey i just got back from The Duke of Hazzard movie, it was way better than i thought. Yeah the writers went a little overboard on the profanity, but i think they used all profane words except the "F" bomb lol (which thats a good thing.)

I think it a case of professional jealousy and I had seen the movie on friday and wore my orange Duke T-shirt with 01 in Black and white on the back and used my free ticket as well. I think the cashier knew what I was going to see last Friday.

I heard through the grapevine that 2005 was supposedly the last Dukesfest as far as Ben was concerned he said it was getting to be too much hassle and strain on him. But it asks on his website if you want to to it next year so maybe he's reconsidered or maybe since CMT co-sponsored this years fest they maybe gonna take the whole thing over and Ben is just gonna be a guest.

I was wonderin a couple a things...Is DukesFest in Bristol, TN every year? And if so, are there hotels nearby? Is the merchandise expensive there?

lost_sheep3
08-24-2005, 03:10 AM
Dukesfest has been in Bristol, TN for the past 2 years (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!). There are lots of hotels nearby - if you go to the Bristol Motor Speedway website there are plenty of references to local hotels. I believe there is also camping nearby. Also Bristol is partly in TN and partly in VA, so if you look at Bristol, VA there are plenty of hotels there as well.

Merchandise at the festival does tend to be a bit pricey - but I don't think any more than at any other event.

I have a question. This year shall be my first year going to the DukesFest (well this is the first year I can afford to go). But do you have to buy a ticket to go, or do you just show up on opening day??

starkist72
01-08-2006, 04:06 AM
you can buy tickets in advance at www.cootersplace.com but last year they didn't sell out

it costs regular admission to get your general lee into the show

this year its gonna be a the the music city motorplex in nashville.

the are hotels, but its the weekend before country music fest so hotels might be crowded.

i dont think the movie cast will be there, but it sounds like alot of the origninal cast members might be.

it's been annouced to be taking place the first weekend in june

and i believe the motorplex is not far from the airport, so if your were to fly and rent a car you probably wont have much of a problem (in fact is will probably be cheaper than driving... we drive from worcester mass, and its very expensive, but we tow our charger, so we dont have the option to fly)

you guys should really check out www.cootersplace.com
im not a spokeman for them or anythng, but all the information you need to start planing is on there.

Brian Coltrane

Tickets are going on sale in approx 2 weeks. Watch for breaking news at cootersplace.com. And of course we'll fill ya in after they've made their official announcements.

Without stealin' anybody's thunder, all I can say is that if you plan on going, get your tickets sooner rather than later once they're available!

As I've never been to Dukesfest before could someone please tell me the price of General admission for both days?? Thanks

lost_sheep3
01-13-2006, 01:28 PM
Dixie Rose,

Last year it was $25 for both days if tickets were purchased in advance, $30 for both days if bought on-site. But that could change this year because of the new location.

Your best bet is to keep an eye on www.cootersplace.com or right here. Our admins do a great job keeping us updated on what's happening in the world of Dukes!

If I am to go to Dukesfest this year with my three children, how much should I expect to spend there?
I need to try to figure out how much I need to save up and if I can afford to go. I figure that I will proberly drive down. It has to be cheaper than four plane tickets.

I need to try to figure out how much I need to save up and if I can afford to go. I figure that I will proberly drive down. It has to be cheaper than four plane tickets.

Hope this helps.

Hotel: $150/3 nights at a place charging $49.00 a night per double bed room & taxes. Some places also tack on a parking fee.
Food – possibly $200 over 4 days
Gas – lets say 3 fill ups both ways/driving around city: $300 if gas is 2.20 a gallon / your vehicle has a 20 gallon tank.
Admission – All Miltary with ID & kids under 10 are free.
Advance Price: $30 for 2 day pass, $20 per a Saturday or Sunday ticket.
June 3rd & 4th Gate Price: $25 for one day ticket, $35 for two day pass.

Souvenirs – depends on how much you want to spend.

Above figures: minimum $650.00

Daney

Well I would only be able to spend two nights so that would cut off some of the cost, since the kids are still in school. I would have to drive down Friday and I guess leave Sunday.
I don't know if I can do this or not, but it is worth thinking about. So maybe earmark $1500 for it.

Special Message for General Lee Owners
Hey All Y'all General Lee owners,

From the way things are already shaping up, DukesFest in Music City is going to be by far the biggest Hazzard County shindig ever! And of course, it wouldn't be DukesFest with the General Lee (The real star of the show, as we all know). We want make this year special for all the General Lee owners. We know how much work goes into them and we know how far many of y'all have to come. So this year "Hazzard County display cars," Generals, Police cars, Daisy's Jeeps, etc… Will be assigned a special entrance and the occupants will receive free tickets for the weekend. (Don't sweat it if you've already paid we'll refund your money at the gate.) We'll have a place of honor for the all The Generals and a separate viewing area for the other Hazzard cars.

This year we'll have dash plaques and inspection stickers from Cooter's Garage for the display cars. And everybody's already talking about "The Parade of the General Lee's." Make sure your horns are working!

We will do our very best to provide a specific time for cast signatures. This has proved to be very difficult in the past but like I say we'll try our durndest.

We will soon be posting registration forms for the display cars and more detailed information.

In the meantime, "Keep your gown down, the pedal to the metal, watch out for ol' Roscoe and keep it tween' the ditches."

Ben AKA "Cooter" and Miss Alma
