HAZZARD HATE LIST:MOST ANNOYING CHARACTERS ON DOH

Greetings from Hazzard Tn.
In this post, I want to know which characters annoyed the living crap out of you? These are characters that when they talk or even appear on camera, you just want to b*#! slap them.
I know many of you will say Coy and Vance, but how about others, supportive players, one time characters? etc?
My two votes go for characters in Boss and Rosco's family.
Mama Coltrane!! Now while I consider Lucille Benson a fine actress, ( I liked her as thE snake lady in Duel) But I couldn't stand her as Rosco's mama. With a mother like that, no wonder Rosco never dated. She drove them all away!!!!!!
The other most annoying character to me was Rosco or Lulu's cousin or aunt Hortense. Oh Geeze!!!! I would absolutely hate to have her in my family. I liked Frances Bay much better as Fonzie's hard of hearing grandma on Happy Days.
Finally, the nervous official at the Lulu Hogg Horse Races that kept reminding everybody that Manassas had better not be late.
And from the reunion movies, I hated Bubba and Bertha Jo and Mama Maxx's main flunky with the weird laugh in Reunion in Hazzard, and I really hated Patch, BB Bascum, and the Russian Guy from Hazzard in Hollywood.

Rosco had a Mama around on the show, what episode is she in so I can what she was like.

Mama Coltrane, (Lucille Benson) appeared only one time on the show. Mama Coltrane appeared on "Mrs. Rosco P. Coltrane" a third season episode in the fall of 1980. The episode where Rosco is conned into marrying a female con artist he meets through a computer dating service unaware that she is already married and that her real husband and his partner plan to rob the bank while everyone is at the wedding.

This is the episode where we learn the P. in Rosco's middle name is Pervis. This episode will be part of the third seaosn DVD due to come out soon.

On my wholesale hate list, are the Rosco replacements that appeared in Season Two. Most notably, "Sheriff Buster Moon." (episode was "Return of the Ridgeraiders." ) Eeeeyuck.

I didn't have any use for Sheriff Grady Bird, either.

I was equally annoyed with Sheriff Lester Crabb.

I found another "most annoying" character last night. Melanie DuBois from "Miss Tri-Counties". I thought Diane from "Carnival of Thrills" was bad, but Melanie annoyed the heck out of me!

Uncle Jessie annoys the heck outta me sometimes(yeah, you heard me right). With all his rules and his preaching(Carnival of Thrills a good example). Sometimes I wish he would just shut up! :D Am I alone on this one?

I think most Dukes fans have a great deal of respect for Uncle Jesse - his "preaching" as you call it, is the backbone of the family values that are at the core of the Dukes of Hazzard.

I have to agree with LS3 on this one. I liked how they portrayed Uncle Jesse. Heck if Uncle Jesse wasn’t around to preach to Bo & Luke those two boys would be a mess.

In the earliest episodes, the writers hadn't as yet developed the characters of more honorable Dukes.

1)***in Luke's Love Story the annoying character was Luke Duke.

Though I have a bad case of hero-worship for Luke, and though I tell my husband that Luke is the world's second sexiest man,
in that episode,
he acted like such a big jerk to Amy Creevy. She should have slugged him harder.


2)***in Mary Kaye's Baby the annoying characters were Mary Kaye and all the Dukes.

They actually approved of her stealing the money and using it to raise her child. (Though admittedly it was a crook's ill-gotten gains).

To quote Jesse in a later episode, "Two wrongs don't make a right."
Then, if it had been a later episode, Jesse would have told her that raising her son on a foundation of theft, dishonesty, and deceit was a terrible legacy for that child.

I had a problem with Jeb Stuart Duke in "Along Came A Duke". I can't really explain it he just annoyed me. And I was truely upset with Luke when he called him his favorite boy cousin... or was it his favorite blonde cousin... either way BAH. And when he was driving Daisy's jeep in a getaway... thank God it wasn't the General or I would have been even more upset.

Also Diane in "Carnival of Thrills" but I don't think I need to explain that one.

I agree completely but honestly Jeb i think is what Bo would have been if Uncle Jesse wasn't there. You know?

Anyways, i think all the characters were annoying at some point. but thats how things go. :-?

As for most annoying characters, Amanda's overly biased opinion would be any and all of the guys that Daisy ever dated other than ENOS! She was also annoyed with Daisy in those episodes. When will that girl realize how good she has it!??

Jam agrees to some extent, with emphasis on Gaylord Duke. Man that guy was annoying. We have British relatives and hope they never see that episode. She also didn't care for the butler in Southern Cumforts (actually she finds the whole episode annoying).

Gosh there has been some annoying characters on the DOH! I can't remember them all casue I try to forget them!

I really hated Jeb Stuart Duke, I don't know why, something about his hair bugs me! I just don't like the guy, he creeps me out or something!

I was also really annoyed with Luke in Lukes Love Story. I thought he was an insenstive bastard! Pardon my launguge but it's all I can say. But now I've come to realise he ain't all that bad, Bo was kinda insensitive in that ep. too. But anyways.

Cletus really annoyed me at first. But I think that was cause I was because he replaced enos

Ya know who I forgot about. the worst character in DOH history? Hewey Hogg!!! Yuck he was such a jerk! He was even wosre than Boss. He took everything away from his Uncle! And he was always trying to get rid of the Dukes, and Cooter. Poor Cooter, he's always in trouble cause of them Dukes! :lol:

The one character I would truely get pleasure from ***** slapping would have to be Hughie Hogg. I hate that guy. I'd like to take a combat knife and relieve him of the 'manhood' he doesn't deserve :x

Plain and Simple, Coy and Vance! I half-expect WB tried to clone John and Tom, but the two mutated into something hideous! Grady Bird was terrible. Never Abe Hogg. The official worse was Rosco's sister who acted like she never met him. Never was a big fan of Lulu, particularly when she was obsessed with womens' rights. At the top of my list: Hughie and Dewey Hogg, I was actually waiting for a Louie Hogg, man, can Hazzard yank out of Disney, huh? L.B. Davenport, Cooter's cousin wasn't half bad, but not half good either. But the worst guest (you're gonna kill me for this) WALYON JENNINGS! How could he be the Balladeer, a faceless, nameless storyteller, and an outlaw country star at the same time? Plus, he was kinda just a spectator when he was on camera, which I think he picked up as the Balladeer.

What I meant was it was confusing when he was himself and the Balladeer at the same time in one episode, the normal Balladeer and the Waylon Jennings guest appearance was cool, since I'm a fan of the Highwaymen, but it seemed a little weird for the faceless storyteller, the Balladeer, to refer to Waylon Jennings in the first person. I hold nothing against him, but I was a little confused, so don't shoot the messenger!

Molly Hargrove (I think that was her name), the ex-Nascar driver in "Birds Gotta Fly". She wanted to sign Daisy to a racing contract. She was so annoying, I think it was her voice. It rubbed me the wrong way. That and her attitude.

Joining this bashing session a little late, but hey better late than never.
My most hated/annoying characters would have to be Little Tommy Lee! The little boy at the orphange that Bo and Luke give the Show Dog to. I just HATE his voice! Just sounds so fake, dubbed what ever.

I also can't stand Frankie from Luke's Love Story. She was so flat. I also have to agree that Luke was a really jerk, and I'm surprised that he didn't get slapped in the face.

Well that's my top two hated characters.

I think on "A Strange Visitor To Hazzard" that Alien was obviously a kid or dwarf in a Alian suit. And I was waiting for Alf to come out of Skunk Hollow as well, wait a minute we would be chasing Flash all over Hazzard.

I did a check on this guy, and he was not a kid, he was a midget who did acting in a number of shows and things. I was blown away because he was on an episode of the Monkees during the 60's and that's one of the shows I love.

Oh well, I digress.

I think that the characters that annoyed me were probably all the replacements for Rosco and Cooter. Although I liked Dick Sargeant in 'Bewitched', his character seemed a bit too much a 'yes man' for my tastes. (I could not find a good Rosco/Enos shot for my banner so I have to deal with him). No one can hold a candle to Rosco as Sheriff of Hazzard County. I didn't really like then replacing Cooter with all of his cousins either. It wasn't that these guys were bad, it's just that Cooter is such a classic character that bringing those other guys in, seemed to make the stories drag. I guess it was hard for me to grasp the idea of someone else besides Cooter running the garage.

I thought Coy Duke was alright, but Vance seemed a bit on the dry side to me, so although season five was OK, I discovered that I didn't like Vance all that much. What was that bit with them always taking off their shirts? Bo and Luke never had to do that and they had tons of female admirers. :D

I also have to agree with who said that they didn't like all those fellows that Daisy was getting attached to, they annoyed me, because I love Daisy and Enos together. And for the record, I am a Jonathan Frakes fan.

I saw that a few pages back on the exclamation of hatred for Hughie Hogg. I can't say I agree though. He's my all time favorite bad guy! As for annoyances of characters (Coy and Vance are included!) it would have to be the sheriffs that replaced Rosco and amazingly enough I'm not too fond of Sheriff Little. He just plan annoys the heck outta me! How could he give a parking ticket to his own daughter who wasn't even driving a real car? Oh and Luke Duke in Luke's Love Story...insensitive jerk! I just wanted to reach into the screen and punch him. How can he say that he can't be with only one girl while he wants Amy to be with only him? Rude!

The sherriffs that filled in for Rosco's absense in Season 2. The DOH would have went under if Rosco had been away much longer(taht's my opinion).
