(This story takes place a few weeks after my character Jimmy Duke comes to Hazzard. All characters are welcome!)
Rebel, Jimmy Duke's 1971 Plymouth RoadRunner, roars through Hazzard's backroads, followed by the General Lee. Jimmy has just installed new racing slicks and is eager to test them out before the Dash Around Atlanta, a 3-lap race throughout the streets of Atlanta. Jimmy and the Duke boys tear closer and closer to the mound of dirt the Dukes jumped when they were trying to rescue Daisy from Laurel and Hardy, or should I say two robbers disguised as Laurel and Hardy.
"Let's see how these babies take this jump, boys!" was what the Duke boys heard on the CB.
Rebel bounced onto the mound of dirt at full speed. Suddenly, Jimmy felt the right front tire give ways, and the big Plymouth wobbled to the right. It did a slide in that direction as it left the dirt ramp. The RoadRunner went nose-down and was already tipping over when it slammed head-on into the dirt. It landed on its roof and bounced back over, crushing parts of the trunk. Rebel launched ten feet into the air and landed hard on its right-front fender, sending it slamming into the ground with its left-rear once again. Jimmy's only thought was God, I hope this thing don't catch fire. He heard Bo and Luke send out a call for help on the CB. Then the RoadRunner hit hard on the driver's side and he fell unconscius.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rebel was seriously damaged and lay on its left side. The front end was crumpled up a bit, amazingly not completely to the engine, and the loop grille lay hanging. The fenders were crushed in and the hood was smashed. The rear had suffered the worst. It was completely caved in, the trunk sagging underneath the wheels, but it looked like it would be repairable, albeit a difficult job. A roll cage had saved the roof from crushing Jimmy Duke, but the drivers door had been knocked in and probably had injured him badly. Now was the tough part--getting him out.
