I posted this here by mistake. Could our local Sheriff move this post to the video game thread. Although I might have wanted to be handcuffed by our Sheriff.....
My apologies for this error...

I liked the game, I bought it just because it was the dukes. The only primblems with the game were that there was not a drop of water in the whole game and there chould have been more classic locations and jumps. Also, it would have been better to have more replay value to it, but never-the-less a great addition to the collection of dukes games out there.

YEEEE-HAW! The return of general Lee rocks!
I love it, it feels like your sitting in the general right alongside Bo and Luke!
I'm stuck though. I think I'm at 88% but I have beaten the game, won the race saved the orphanage, does anyone know how to get to the High road Track Jump?

Considering the other DoH games out there this is sadly the best one yet. Personally I think the DoH could of had a better story (seeing as tho it had the over done "Save the Orphanes" story") and could of had a better replay value. Ima big gamer and I like the idea of being able to roam Hazzard but it get very repiditive....The cop AI sucks condsidering you "lose them" as soon as you get into a chase. (I might just be that good lol jk) but really all in all they could of done better it is a below par comapared to the big games out there. All though the raceing AI was very good and I found the final race a challenge. IMO its a gimped out GTA (Grand Theft Auto). I did enjoy the game tho but still it leaves me wanting more. :(

Roaming Hazzard in the General Lee is fun. But I agree it's too easy to lose the smokies, but the balladeers comments are great."Better make like a dog and shake that tail!"
I wish you could go back to certian missions and play them again.
Has anyone gotten 100% in this game yet?

They gotta do a Dukes game Grand Theft Auto style and let you act out all the seasons. That would be cool.
So, is this game worth buying or is it as bad as the other ones?

hello have you gotten an email 'bout that back yet?
My Dukes of Hazzard: Return of the General Lee Review
GOOD: Being able to YEEHAW!; Free Roam; The DIxie Horn was quite good, I must admit. Play it and if you listen close enough you hear a bit of a police siren after it. They took it from the show; Multiplayer: Hot Pursuit, Demolition Derby, and Head2Head; the fact they got very good voice impersonaters, for Boss Hogg and Jesse; All of the alive actors played their parts; the Gneral does'nt dent and crash when you land.
BAD: Roads way too wide; C**p police AI; very few jumps; Denver Pyle and Sorrell Booke couldn't be alive to do thier voices; WHERE THE H**L IS CHICKASAW?!; Vehicles WAY too slidey; you can't drive on two wheels; Ratbag should have looked at the series first. Downtown in this game was very inaccurate, while in the series it was three or four "Squares". And the Hazzard County Building had a long path going up it.
IMPROVEMENTS: A realistic physics engine, like the one in FlatOut; more accurate roads; Boss Hogg less "Tanned"; two Story Modes: The original series, and the 2005 Film. That's all.

I think we should come up with an idea of our own and send it to midway or another game developer and make sure that they make really, really good games.

I agree that the game leaves you wanting more. To me replay value is everything. and a game shouldn't just be about BEATING IT. If there were side missions in this game it would add greatly to the REPLAY VALUE.
I'll weigh the pros and cons that I liked and disliked about the game for anyone interested, and if you agree or disagree feel free to let me know.
I just gotta warn ya, there'll probably be more cons than pros.
PROS:
-Free Roam mode was cool
-Doing Jumps was cool too
-Pretty good graphics
-I liked the fact that the missions are kinda like GTA, where you go to a certain location to do them.
CONS:
-No speed traps that I saw
-Hazzard Square was nothing like it was in the show, it was about 10% of the size. I would have liked it to be exactly the same as the show, with alleys and everything. The map seemed really inaccurate, and I didn't see too many shortcuts, which should have been a must in the game. You should be able to cut across fields, hide in bushed with the cars, etc. But the map was decent.
-The car handled like crap, I know in the show you always see them sliding, but it was intentional because THEY wanted to do it. You shouldn't try to drive and the car automatically slides on you.
-The missions weren't fun, they were kinda boring.
-Not enough things to do
-you can't get out of the car
That's all I can think of at the moment. Another thing that would improve this game though is townspeople, wouldn't it?
Since it is a small town, don't you think that in certain missions you should be able to walk around town and talk to people to hopefully get some clues or info about where the bad guys are, or went? I think that would rule!

Pros: It's a Duke's Game!
Driving the General Lee!
Actor Voice overs
Cons: It would have been cool to have people dive out of the way in town when you come screaming through.
I would have liked to see a dashboard view of the cars you drive.
It would have been cool to be able to drive any car you want after you beat the game, in free roam.

Actually, the town DID look like it did in the show...the first 5 episodes. It was a pretty good recreation of the town square in Covington. When I saw the courthouse I was like OH SNAP! Yeah, it was a bit small, but what can ya do.
The driving was also a pain in the ass. It's bad when Cooter's Truck is the best car in the game.
Here's another con: in two player mode the cars' power and handling are seriously downgraded, so it feels like you're driving through sludge.

yeah the game had so much potential, but failed miserably. I think if Rockstar Games took a stab at it, the game would come out a classic. But oh well.
The town did look kinda like the season 1 town in Covington, but that doesn't say much, cuz there wasn't much of a town. I prefer the season 2-7 town square cuz there's a lot more space, hidden alleys, and places to escape. This town had i think 2-3 ways out and that's it. One way ya come in, the other way ya go out, and i think there was a road by the impound lot wasn't there? I can't remember. But someone should really do a game and study the town in the dukes, and make it more accurate. They did a good job with the layout of the town and roads, but there was nothing to do even in free roam.
Cruising alone isn't fun. Ya need something else to do besides drive to make a game fun. Grand Theft Auto is probably the best games on the planet, and other games should really take notice of it, and incorporate some of those features into games to make them better.
I think if you could grab a dirtbike out of the duke barn, and go cruising cross country that would be one great feature, and another would be having missions up at your numerous still sites. Maybe you have to blow them up before Rosco or Boss get to them, or something. Blow em up with dynamite arrows.

That last bit sounds more like movie continuity than the show, and that's a big hell no.
I've always lobbied for a GTA-style Dukes game; character missions as well as in the car. Also you can take other cars around Hazzard as they frequently borrowed them. Some fights at the Boar's Nest, knocking out bad guys after the General pulls them over, bow and arrow missions... I'd even like it if they script a season or two into the game story. Given the size of the recent GTA games the game map shouldn't be much problem, as there are very few buildings to consider and just a ton of roads, short cuts, gullies and trees. I mean, what, make 3 tree sprites for variation then re-stamp them over and over? Simple.
YouHush!
02-12-2007, 04:05 PM
yeah that's exactly the kind of stuff I meant. Whoever did this game I find did a pretty bad job cuz the car is all over the place, and the missions are real stinkers. Aren't missions supposed to be fun? I'm stuck on that one with Jesse following some moonshiner, and if he gets off the screen for even 1 second he's gone! like how realistic is that?
but oh well. At least the original PS1 game, didn't it have real storylines from the show? I'm pretty sure it did, but it wasn't much better than this game but if I remember correct I think it was a tad better.

Don't much remember the old games (in fact I still need to finish part 2) but it's sad when the best car in the game is Cooter's Truck.

Could have been worse I guess, they could have not even made the game. But yeah, they should have played the GTA series before making this one. I wonder if there will ever be another game?
YouHush!
02-13-2007, 02:22 AM
you wonder if there'll be another dukes game? or gta game?
GTA game yeah, it's coming out in october on ps3 called Grand Theft Auto IV, but as for another Dukes game, I have no idea. I would personally love for them to put a lot more effort into it if they do, cuz it's a shame that such a great show can't come out with a great game too. Like I thought the game for Scarface would suck, and it turned out pretty good. I heard there's supposed to be a miami vice game out or coming out, and not sure of what to think of that, so I can't really comment on it. I seen screens of it, and it looks cheesy.
Dukes however I had a feeling about right away that the game was gonna suck. The moment I seen it for rent in a video store I got excited, then a few weeks later I seen it in a department store for like 30 bucks, and was a new release? that says something right there!
