I think White Lightning was much better than than the sequil, Gator. I think it's a cooler story, and all those Ford LTD's in the chase scenes. (especially the one Burt Reynolds drove with the 429 and 4 speed manual. ) Gator wasn't a bad movie, but I think it wasn't as good as White Lightning. It just didn't impress me much.

I chose White Lightning on the cover first. After seeing Burt on the cover with a shotgun, I thought this would be a good movie! Then, I read the back about car chase scenes. That's when I whipped out my cash.

As a certified dummy, I have to admit that I didn't realize Gator was the sequel to White Lightning. So, not knowing that Gator followed AFTER White Lightning I bought Gator. White Lightning wasn't on the shelf at the time and I still have yet to see that movie.

So I can't comment on White Lightning, but I think Gator was pretty good and my favorite part is the speed boat chase that opens the film. And watching Jerry Reed play a really bad dude is worth the price of admission. And then the big fight scene at the end on the beach. Reed played Bama McCall so well, in my opinion, that he definetly made the character a bad guy you hated, and I found myself cheering for Gator when he slammed McCall in the concession booth on the beach. *WHAM!!!* ROFL

But if White Lightning has car chases, I'm there! LOL. Gotta look for that one next. :)

I liked both White Lightning and Gator, for the scenes mentioned before. Both great films in their own way.

I had to laugh at that big dude in Gator who had to stick his head out of the sunroof because he was so tall. I wonder if anyone is actually like that, and how many times he/she gets pulled over!!!

I have to admit I haven't seen White Lightining either but I loved Gator. Seeing Jerry Reed as a bad guy is sooooo awesome. He plays a pretty smooth operator that is pretty dang nasty. I like Jerry Reed as a good guy but the change in his normal casting roles is pretty cool. The fight sences are cool and if any of you notice in the begining with the Grandpa and Gator's daughter with the ATF agents, one of the agents is Sonny Shroyer. No joke. Put it sounds like they dubbed his voice over. He has like one line and his voice sounds like it's dubbed over with a voice over or something. It's weird. Oh well. But Gator is pretty cool. My mom got a kick out of it when I rented it because she's a Burt Renlyons fan.

I just watched White Lightening Last Night and it was pretty cool, but one thing what make and year was Gator's car. And has anybody ever seen this old Burt Reynolds movie called "Iron Cowboy" it co-stars Terrance Stamp and Sally Kirkland. I seen the video at Movie Exchange for some reason I want to buy this movie eventually.
