View Full Version : County of Hazzard Legal Notice

MaryAnne
06-26-2003, 03:15 AM
Deputy MaryAnne Coltrane -- Hazzard County Sheriff's Department.

About three weeks ago, I declared martial law and placed the town on a 72 hour lock down to get a curb on the excessive fighting that was taking place. About a week after the lock down was lifted, Chet Duke and Brian Coltrane entered into a pact to attempt to beat the hell outta each other. This act was in direct violation of the decree set forth at the time of the lock down.

As Chet Duke is no longer a presense in Hazzard County I cannot bring forth charges and render a sentence. However, the remaining participant, Brian Coltrane, has been charged and subsequently found guilty of violation of the lockdown decree from June the 4th. There was to be no more fighting.

The sentence, handed down for such violation is as follows: 60 days in the Hazzard County Jail, time served to begin immediately and without delay. The incarcerated may be eligible for a parole hearing after a minimum of 30 days served.

Hereby entered and recorded in the County record by Deputy MaryAnne Coltrane, Hazzard County Sheriff's Department.

As an author I would like to take full responsibility for the actions of my Character Chet Hugh Duke. His actions were unresonable and un law abiding. Under the cercomstances of those actions, Chet Duke was not punished because his actions caused death to himself.

I would like to propose as an author and as characters apunishment of being banded form the forums for 60 days. What I did as a character was unlawfull and uncalled for by all means and reasoning.

If 60 days of punishment is not granted by court 60 days of punishment will be inflicted by myself for my wrong doing.

~D. M. W.~ *the author of Chet Duke*

Sees the notice and leaves this one...

MaryAnne,

There were several of us on that night who could've stepped in and didn't.
So we may be just as guilty for letting it happen. Regardless of what anyone else decides...

I choose my own punishment of not posting for at least 30 days.

Take care and be good to one another.

MaryAnne...

Daney is right, a lot of us were on and should have stopped it...

I too won't post anything for the next 30 days as punishment.

I wanted to jump in but a few of my peers kept telling me not to. I feared being subjected to their kind of dissapline of being yelled at and a confrontation. I wanted to jump in because both Brian and Chet are/were my friends. I choose not to name people though. I was told not to interject, not to interfear, not to even post anything. I guess if i weren't chicken and stood up and defied them, this wouldn't have happened. Chet and Brian did not tell those things to me, infact, Chet encouraged me to post my opinion on the thing, and post as a spectator of some sort.

I guess the same thing happened to me.

Maybe I should have jumped in but sometimes you listen to others more than anyone else. I never wanted anything bad to happen

I just didn't want to go through a confrontation over that with the people supressing me. I have had confrontations with them before, and well, it hurt, it was rough, and it made me feel really bad and rejected.

MaryAnne

I never expected for folks to start bannishing themselves from town. That wasn't my intent. Whether or not anybody could have stopped the fight is not the issue, nor is it the charge.

However, given that the proposals have been made, the court has something to say...

D.M.W - As Chet Duke's author your proposal of 60 days punishment is noble. Given as Chet and Brian are guilty of same charge, I would like to make a counter-offer of the same terms as were given to Brian. 60 days, with a parole hearing after 30.

Parole would come in the form of a story, either completed or in progress, by July 25th. The story, upon completion will be posted to the HNet fanfic section.

Consider this a court counter-offer. Although you are free to reject the terms, and stay with your original, I'm lookin' to make the time spent productive.

Daney and Min Duke - Your 30 days of punishment is a noble gesture as well and the court would like to offer similar counter offer terms. At the end of your 30 days, each provide a story, either completed or in progress, to be posted to the HNet fanfic section.

Again, each of you is free to reject this proposal and spend the next 30 days bannished to the farm. But I would like to see something productive come from the time spent.

So noted.

Here's what the word suppression really means.

Suppression:
The act of suppressing; forceful prevention.

I was online during the night in question and I seem to recall things being a little different then what has been mentioned. Let's not forget kids that there are TWO sides to every story...

"I wanted to jump in but a few of my peers kept telling me not to."

NO ONE can stop another person from posting, unless they can somehow reach through the monitor and cut off hands or snatch keyboards. We are all free to post what we want as long as it was USEFUL to the thread, according to MaryAnne's rules.
Just thought I'd put in my opinion since everyone else is...

*leaves another note*

Hello MaryAnne,

I am returning to town. 5 days away was enough... I have began a script and will turn it into you, as soon as it's completed.

Daney

Rosco
07-02-2003, 05:45 AM
*Rosco saunters up to the upstairs jail cell.*

"Well, well, well. What do we have here? Khee! I always thought ya looked good in stripes, Brian. So... whatcha in for this time?"

*Brian glanced over Rosco's shoulder at MaryAnne, but kept his mouth shut.*

*Rosco turned to follow his gaze. Then addressed his other cousin.*

"MaryAnne, I been outta town too long." *Jerks a thumb over his shoulder towards the cell.* "What happened here?"

MaryAnne
07-03-2003, 02:33 AM
MaryAnne regarded her cousin with a weary yet otherwise expressionless face. "A lot has happened since you left, Rosco. It would take me a couple of years worth of Sundays to tell ya all of it. You've been gone a long time..."

Rosco
07-04-2003, 05:58 AM
"Yeah, it's been a long time. But I ain't goin' away again anytime soon. I promise. Besides, I missed y'all."

*Rosco looked over his shoulder at his black clad cousin behind bars.*

"Yeah, and I missed ya too, Brian. Why, I have no idea... I'm sure whatever ya did to make the Deputy put ya behind bars, it musta been a doozy."

*Rosco regarded MaryAnne again.*

"So, since I have all this free time, ya gunna give me a clue as to what type of shenanigans would land ol' Bri in the pokey? And ya think he'll be out in time for dinner? Somehow it wouldn't be the same with a place missin' at the table."

MaryAnne
07-04-2003, 04:10 PM
MaryAnne sighed. "Um....no he won't be home for supper. Atleast not for another..." *looks at calender* "Twenty one days. The short version of all this is that Brian's in jail for two reasons. One, for breakin' the law I laid down about fightin' and two, for his own good. " *pauses, looks at Rosco sadly* "You wanna talk things not bein' the same with a place missin' at the supper table...?"

Rosco
07-05-2003, 06:41 AM
*Rosco could see the wounded look on his cousin's face. And he knew he was partly responsible for that look. He bowed his head and attempted to find the words he needed.*

"MaryAnne, I--I'm sorry." He looked up at her. "I took off and left all the responsibility for this town to you. I guess I was kinda selfish. I know my leavin' town hurt you n' Brian, but ya gotta believe that I never intended that. I don't expect ya to understand everything that happened or why I reacted the way I did. I just hope that you... you'll want me back. And you'll forgive this ol' fool."

MaryAnne
07-05-2003, 03:32 PM
"I understand why ya reacted as ya did. You were hurtin' too." *takes a step toward Rosco* "But the fact that yer back, says a lot. There's still a place in yer heart for Hazzard. And although you may be an ol' fool, yer still my cousin. And I can forgive ya." *smiles and gives her older cousin a hug* "Welcome home, Rosco..."

DaneyDuke
07-06-2003, 06:36 AM
"Double Damn, I'll second that." Daney agreed from where she stood frozen in her tracks at the sight of Rosco. Her hands reached up and wiped tears away. She had missed 'em too even if she hadn't shown it at times. "Rosco, it's good to have you back."

Rosco
07-10-2003, 08:04 AM
"It's good to be back," Rosco replied. "I really missed y'all."

Rosco looked around the room, reminiscent. Then looked at Brian, then back to MaryAnne.

"MaryAnne... I figure a lot went on when I was gone. I may never know what all. But I can't help but feel somewhat responsible that things got outta hand when I left. If I had been doin' my duty, Brian might not be sittin' over there in the pokey. "

Rosco paused to gather his thoughts. "I ain't gunna challenge yer authority. You musta had a good reason to put Brian there. But I'd appreciate if you'd think about lettin' him out. I'd take full responsibility for his conduct."

Rosco gave Brian a stern look as he addressed him, "...and I'd hope that if the Deputy here is nice enough to let ya out, you won't take advantage of her good graces... or mine."

"So... MaryAnne. Whaddya say?"

countrygirl1986

Just then....

"I hope I ain't interupting anything, but I got a package for MaryAnne Coltrane and her outlaw cousin, Brian Coltrane. Cooter's younger second cousin, Hilery sent over a package of comic books for the two of you." Miss tisdale said smiling. "Being's it's not postage though, I guess I could just give it to you. I owe the girl a favor." she told them and gave the package to Maryanne. "She said the two of you probably needed osmething to pass the time, well you know, the time of you looking over Brian, and Brian sitting in teh cell, though, they would probably be nice in teh future if Brian gets arrested again if you decide to let him out Maryanne." The tisdale said. "Now, if you don't mind, you and Rosco can carry on your conversation about whether you are going to let him out of jail or not, because my lunch break is nearly over and I still haven't gotten my sandwich, and shriff, nice to see you back," she said and left the booking room.

(sorry for posting it now, i been debating whether I should be nice and give MA and Brian reading material or not LoL, finally decided to do it. and Rosco, are you teh same one from prelude to mass confusion? I really likethat fic, and the rosco who did that did it perfectly, to a perfect T.)

Rosco
07-13-2003, 07:06 AM
(Yeah, I'm the same Rosco. Khee! Ya can't have mass confusion without me!)

MaryAnne
07-15-2003, 12:49 PM
"Thanks Miz Tizdale," MaryAnne called after the Hazzard Postmistress as she left the room. She looked down at the comic books and smiled. making a note to thank Hilery later as well. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck...who put the Maverick comic in here? "Khee!"

She handed several of the comics to Brian through the bars and looked at her cousin for a moment. Obviously he was waiting for her to answer Rosco's question as much as Rosco was waiting for an answer. MaryAnne silently sighed and turned back to Rosco.

"I'm sorry, Rosco. As much as I'd like to, I can't let Brian out yet. His parole date is set for the 25th and it will stay that way. If I let him out earlier than that, I think it would undermine the whole purpose of the sentencing anyway."

She walked over to Rosco. "Don't worry, he'll be home again. I'm not sending him up the river forever. You know I would't do that anyway. He's in there because I don't want to see anything happen to him. And I know you wouldn't either."

NOTICE OF PAROLE

In Witness Thereof, Notice is here by given that Brian Coltrane has met the requirements for parole and parole has been granted.

Deputy MaryAnne Coltrane
Hazzard County Sheriff's Department

(KHEE!)

MaryAnne
07-26-2003, 01:06 AM
After signing, stamping, officializin', duplicating in triplicate, having notarized, bronzed, laminated and sworn upon the form for Brian's parole, MaryAnne turned to the holding cell and grinned.

"Kheehaaa, cousin!" She plucked the keys off the key holder on the wall. "Yer back to freedom!" Puts the key in the lock and tries to turn it. The door doesn't unlock right away but MaryAnne is unconcerned. The door had always been tricky to open.

Brian Coltrane
07-26-2003, 01:13 AM
"Man, it'll be good to get outta heah. 'Course I gotta admit, it's one of the better jails I been in...." *watches MaryAnne fumble with lock*

"Uh...not that it's my place to tell you how to do yer job, Deputy...but you got the right key there?"

MaryAnne
07-26-2003, 01:18 AM
"Well..." MaryAnne fumbles with the key a second, "this door's always been kinda tricky to open," *click click* "and I could always hit it just right before but..." *click, clickety-click* "I ain't hittin' it right." MaryAnne pulls the key out and looks at it. Looks at the other keys on the wall. "Maybe it is the wrong one..." Makes a swap and tries another key, but the door still won't open.

"Umm...heh heh..." She tried another key and still no luck. "Brian, I dunno quite how to tell ya this..."

DaneyDuke
07-26-2003, 01:28 AM
Daney stood in the shadows and watched nervously.

Brian Coltrane
07-26-2003, 01:28 AM
"You have got to be kiddin' me. MaryAnne, if you don't git that door open inside a' ten seconds, I'm gonna holler for Amnesty International, and then I'm gonna file a complaint with the Civil Liberties Union, n' THEN I'm gonna cuss like hell."

After watching MaryAnne fight with the lock another moment, takes a two-handed grip on the bars, lowers head, sighs....and then....

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! This can't be happenin'!! This is cruel and unusual punishment!! Somebody call a locksmith!!"

MaryAnne
07-26-2003, 01:35 AM
"Oh just hush a moment..." MaryAnne takes a small pouch from her gunbelt and opens it up, revealing her lock picking kit. "Brian, believe me I'm tryin' to get ya outta here! " She selects a tool and goes to work on the lock. After more than 10 seconds, the lock still hasn't given.

"*&%$#@!!" MaryAnne picks another tool and tries it but still no lock...er...luck. She sighs looking at her useless lock picking tool and the stubborn lock. "Startin' cussin', cousin."

MacGyver
07-26-2003, 01:43 AM
MacGyver hears the swearing from the angered Coltrane and walks down the steps into the basement, seeing MaryAnne having problems.

"Need any help with the lock there Deputy?"

Brian Coltrane
07-26-2003, 01:44 AM
"@#&*%#& sonofa #@&%* an' #$%@#*@!!!" After taking a breath, looks through the bars, and says:

"Awright. Let's not lose our heads heah. One lock, two Coltranes. This ain't no big deal, it's just a little dee-lay, we'll figure it out. Now yer keys ain't workin', and the lockpick ain't workin'. And I can tell ya, I tried stickin' a dinner fork in there the other night, and that didn't work. So we can rule out those things as e-ffective solutions."

MaryAnne
07-26-2003, 01:55 AM
Looks at Brian. "You WHAT?!?! You stuck a dinner fork in here one night?? Cripes, no wonder the @#!$%ing thing won't open!" Pauses and takes a breath. "Yer right, two Coltranes one lock..." Looks over at Mac. "Oh hey, Mac. I think I got it covered here but don't go nowhere....hmmm...." Looks at the lock and then looks down at gun. "AH HA!!" Pulls gun from holster. "Stand back, Brian, I'm gonna try to shoot it." Takes aim at the lock....

MacGyver
07-26-2003, 01:57 AM
Mac's dark eyes widen. "Uhhh Deputy, that might NOT work!"
He covered his head and ducked around the corner from the cell.
"Brian! I suggest you get far away from the door! That bullet just might ricochet!"

Brian Coltrane
07-26-2003, 02:02 AM
"GAH! MaryAnne, if'n you ain't noticed, I ain't got too much room to hide!! Ya tryin' to get one of us killed?!"

Seeing that MaryAnne is pulling the hammer back, abandons the debate and dives under the jail bunk. "You been on one patrol too many, I'm tellin 'ya...."

MaryAnne
07-26-2003, 02:14 AM
MaryAnne holds her breath and releases the hammer, sending the bullet zippin' to the lock.....

....and immediately bouncing right off it.

PING! ZIP!! ZIPPOW!!

"DOHHO!!!" MaryAnne hit the floor as the bullet zipped around the booking room, pinging off the clipboard, walls, the booking desk, the metal radio set, back across the room and finally breaking through the glass of the door of Boss's office.

MaryAnne slowly stands up and looks at the hole in the glass of the door. "Uh, okay....obviously THAT didn't work..." Looks at Brian under the bunk. "You can come out, Brian it didn't work."

DaneyDuke
07-26-2003, 02:16 AM
Daney stepped close behind MaryAnne. She looked pass the Deputy at Brian. "You know that doesn't seem like a bad place for you to be." She muttered outloud.

MacGyver
07-26-2003, 02:17 AM
Mac gets up and brushes off his clothes.
"Steel door huh Deputy? Bullets and steel equal big hullabaloo! I have an idea on how to get Brian out but I'd have to borrow your gun in order to do it."
He glances at Brian. "And Brian has to trust me."

Brian Coltrane
07-26-2003, 02:26 AM
"MaryAnne, that was an almighty ruckus and ya damn near blew yer own head off. Not to mention the free coronary I got with purchase!"

Crawls out from under bunk, eyes Mac and Daney. "And now this is turned into some kinda public spectacle. Mac, I appreciate yer offer, but I know MaryAnne. Hazzard law got me in here, Hazzard law is gonna halfta get me out. Lord knows how."

Walks up to bars, watches smoke drift from MaryAnne's gun. Speaks to the Deputy. "I'm beginnin' to think the chipped beef served here nightly beats the lead slug you're tryin' to serve up. Any other bright ideas, blue-sleeves?"

countrygirl1986
07-26-2003, 02:39 AM
"Eh hem," Hilery Davenport said clearing her throat. "i'm not speciallist but you got two choices from what i can see. If Brian didn't gain no weight while he was in there you could try one of the Duke's old escapes and use Cooter's tow truck to yank the bars off hte winder, which would cost a repair bill ... and boss would possibly go after us Davenports to pay for it because we'd be helping, OR we could use a blow torch and a screw driver to take the lock appart because the last I checked it couldn' be done just with a screwdriver for the lacking of visible screws, and then you could simply fool with the innards of the lock, preferably remove them. In the end you could easily replace the locking mechanism, and teh problems in the future with not being able to get criminals er um, parollees out will be history. But then again, what do I know, I'm just a mechanic," Hilery says shrugging. "but Brian, it's nice to see you made parole ... now they just need to get you out," Hilery says chuckling. "I know soem folks are missing you a lot. they been asking others nonstop if folks miss ya... and i thnk i speak for almost everyone when i says we all do. Believe me, we've both had some interesting talks about your past stories, and I miss the money Cooter and I were making from you bringing diablo in for my Cuz to work on ... and money from us letting you work on him in the garage," Hilery said grinning. "I hope MaryAnne and company can get you out though. and if y'all need a blow torch, just ask. Cooter has one." Hilery says finishing, then sits down behind MaryAnne's desk and goes to put her feet up then thinks better of it so she sits back on the steps in the bookingroom. "Good Luck."

MaryAnne
07-26-2003, 02:40 AM
Sighs and thinks for a moment. "Brian's right, the law put 'em in here and the law's gotta get him out." MaryAnne placed her gun back in her holster and stepped over to the radio.

"Deputy MaryAnne Coltrane callin' Sheriff Rosco. You gotcha ears on cousin? I gotta...uh...problem, here at the booking room. Come back."

Brian Coltrane
07-26-2003, 02:49 AM
Mutters a comment as MaryAnne makes the radio call...

"She's got a problem?? She should try it from this side of the iron..."

DaneyDuke
07-26-2003, 02:51 AM
While MaryAnne was waiting for Rosco to reply. Daney stepped over to the cell and stood in front of it. Hazel eyes looked respectfully. She whispered. "Brian, you'll get out before the next full moon hopefully." A shy smile came over her lips.

MacGyver
07-26-2003, 02:58 AM
"Gee Daney thats encouraging." Mac looked at the woman standing in front of the jail cell.
"The next full moon is not for a couple of weeks at least."

Brian Coltrane
07-26-2003, 03:04 AM
"Thanks, ya'll. Heh."

Gives a smile to Daney and Mac, and to anyone else in the vicinity. Holds on to bars in a loose grip, leaning forward lazily.

"Good to see everybody. I've been havin' quite the vacation here. No work, just sittin' around readin' comic books, smokin' cigarettes, pacin' around in a circle...you outta try it! Ya don't know what yer missin'."

MacGyver
07-26-2003, 03:08 AM
"Been there, done that Brian and trust me this place is a picnic compared to where I was."
Mac reaches out and grips the bars.
"Just as solid though."

DaneyDuke
07-26-2003, 03:19 AM
Oh, I know what I am missin'. Daney thought to herself. A slender hand came up and touched her necklace. She glanced from Brian to Mac. She decided to ignore Mac's comment. Sounded like he was just as frustrated as everyone else. Her other hand reached out and held one of the bars tightly.

Brian Coltrane
07-26-2003, 03:26 AM
Seeing the expressions on the gathered faces, gives a mild smile. "Don't ya'll be too sorry for me. I'm a bad guy. Bad guys go to jail every once in awhile. Ya kinda get used to it."

Takes a out a cigarette and lights up, exhaling a stream of smoke. "So what's new on the outside?"

Valerie Strate
07-26-2003, 03:28 AM
From behind a warm hand gently grasped Daney's free hand and squeezed it tight quickly then let go.

"Hey..." Val smiled softly looking into the Duke's eyes to tell her she was there for support.

countrygirl1986
07-26-2003, 03:30 AM
"Speaking of comics, did you enjoy the ones I had Miz Tisdale deliver to y'all?" Hilery asked. "I hope you did. And Brian, I prefere fishing to jail, no offense, though, when you get to annoy the deputies while you're in there, that's fun."

Brian Coltrane
07-26-2003, 03:39 AM
Gives a nod and a smile to Val through the bars. Turns to speak to Hilery.

"Yeah, I dug the comics, thank ya. Mighty kind. And I think me annoyin' the deputies went a long way towards gettin' outta here in 30 instead a' 60. Khee!"

Takes a look at the clock on the wall...

"Though if ol' Rosco don't show tonight, I'm gonna be in here until MaryAnne gets a wreckin' ball to tear the place down. Might never get out...in one piece..."

DaneyDuke
07-26-2003, 03:46 AM
Daney glanced over her shoulder and smiled. "Val, nice of you to drop by. How have you been?" She turned and gave the Game Warden a hug. "Don't be shy, say hi to Brian. He doesn't bite," She whispered.

Valerie Strate
07-26-2003, 04:49 AM
Val grinned at Daney then smiled to Brian, "Nice to see too Brian. Hazzard is doing well. I sure hope they can get you out in one peice cause Hazzard doesn't need more than one Brian Coltrane running around."

The Game Warden chuckled then stiffled it and gave him a warm smile as the sincerety in her gray eyes shown relief, to see him again and to see Daney still had some feelings for him.

countrygirl1986

"i wonder if the Hazzard County sheriffs Department has been remembering to lubricate the locks on the regular basis. That could be why the lock keeps sticking, and now won't budge. I remember how my bicycle lock used to do that if it wasn't lubricated regularly... and it froze a few times too ... adn i broke both the keys in it and someone had to use a chisle and a hammer to break it so i could get my bike ... yeah, how bout y'all try lubricating it with some oil ... or some WD 40... just never put it on teh bottom of a sled, I made that mastaek once on a plastic one," Hilery says thinking aloud and cringes. "not smart especially going down a huge hill with trees at the bottom... or a fence. But try lubricating the lock ... oh and Brian, might wanna look out the window," Hilery adds seeing the latest spectators in Brians ordeal. 3 kitty cats. Good ol' Boots, (the red and white), the black cat Scooter aka Scoot, and Catcat, the white kitty were sitting just outside the sheriffs office jsut close enough to Brians window to be touched, waiting to see if Brian would say Hello, or if they would be invited in, or just ignored.

Brian Coltrane
07-26-2003, 05:09 AM
"It's good to see ya, Game Warden. How's Fang?"

After looking around to make sure Fang didn't wander into the cell somehow, notices Hilery's cats. "Hello Kitty! And kitty, and kitty. You remember me, eh?"

Gives each of the cats a friendly scratch behind the ears. "Got everything here except the Duke's mule, and I don't think that'd be a good idea. Khee!"

Looks back to the assembled visitors through the bars. "So I miss anythin' in town? It's been quiet?"

MacGyver
07-26-2003, 05:31 AM
Mac crossed his arms over his chest.

"Well let's see, got a few new citizens. Rosco flattened a few more patrol cars, the Duke boys drove the General around...other that things have been pretty normal Brian."

Brian Coltrane
07-27-2003, 01:46 AM
"I didn't realize Hazzard had a 'normal.' I've never seen anythin' constitutin' normal around here."

After waiting a beat, seeks out MaryAnne, looking at her through the bars. "Hey, Deputy! Either Rosco ain't got his ears on, or he's decided to let me rot. How about we try calling in the Army Corps of Engineers?"

DaneyDuke
07-27-2003, 01:54 AM
"Maybe he did, Brian." Softy hums a Dobie Gray tune while waiting for MaryAnne to answer.

MaryAnne
07-27-2003, 01:55 AM
MaryAnne sighed and put the CB mike down. "Yeah, he ain't respondin'." She turned and looked at the holding cell Brian was in. "Hmmm...." She studied the bars and brick walls that surrounded it.

"Anybody got any dynamite?"

MacGyver
07-27-2003, 01:57 AM
"I got a way MaryAnne, and it wont require sweeping up bits of Brian." Mac said as he stepped forward, his gaze bouncing between the two Coltranes in front of and behind the bars.

"Will you let me help now?"

Brian Coltrane
07-27-2003, 01:58 AM
"GAAAAAAH!! Ain't that just a hair over the top, cousin?"

DaneyDuke
07-27-2003, 02:00 AM
Looks from Brian to the Deputy. "MaryAnne, I got dynamite outside in Hunter's trunk. That could come in handy if you need to give yer cousin the second degree before you let him out."

Mac nodded at Daney's offer. "That would work but its put a risk on Brian, with flying bricks and chunks of concrete. What I have in mind wouldnt hurt him, the only thing that would be damaged would be the doorlock."

MaryAnne
07-27-2003, 02:06 AM
MaryAnne looked at Mac and Daney. "Believe me, Daney, Brian's already received the 2nd degree from me. And Mac, I appreciate the offer of help, but as a deputy of this county, I put him in there, and I gotta take him out---I mean GET him out." Looks back at Brian with a grin. "I meant get on that cousin."

Looks at MacGyver. "Brian won't mind. He loves being in tight spots."

MacGyver

Looks at Daney.
"Oh yeah sure I'm sure he does, but frankly a coffin isn't one of them."

Brian Coltrane

"This is a little more n' ah anticipated for obtainin' freedom! Mind ya, I want out, but I don't want off the planet !"

Brian wraps both hands around the bars and goes eye to eye with MaryAnne. "But if your tryin' to rattle a confession outta me by threatin' to use dynamite on that cell door, you can just do your damn worst. 'Cause I ain't fallin' for it. No cop interrogation has ever broken me yet, and you n' your Hazzard firecrackers won't break me now! Hell, I dare ya!"

07-27-2003, 02:29 AM
"Why don't you guys just try lubricating the lock? Or you could take a saw to the bars, then welt them back into place and no one is none the wiser. Or you could do what isuggested before, take a blow torch to the lock cover, remove it, and then just change the lock.. the latter after releasin brian." Hilery says enjoying the spectacle as her cats climbed into Brians cell. One stayed in, while the other two began trying to ease everyone's agrivation, not straying too far incase of a hastey retreate being needed. They knew Brian probably wouldn't mind the cmpany, and if he did, he could just set them in the window where they were.

MaryAnne
07-27-2003, 02:30 AM
MaryAnne looks back at Brian in mild surprise. "Hmmm.....perhaps dynamite won't work. Excuse me y'all, I'll be right back...."

MaryAnne ran out of the booking room and came back several moments later with box full of gunpowder and a match. In her back pocket was a screwdriver. She put the box down infront of the cell door and held the match up to Brian. "How's this for a firecracker? KHEE!!!"

MacGyver
07-27-2003, 02:31 AM
"WHOA MARYANNE!" Mac looked at the size of the box. "Just put some of the powder in the lock itself, stuff some cloth in there and light it. That way the blast won't hurt Anyone."

countrygirl1986
07-27-2003, 02:40 AM
"My way would cause even less damage than that," Hilery says musing. "Infact, in the end on my idea, the cell would be 100% opperational again," she adds from her post on the steps. "Just use a blow torch to get the lock cover off, adn then remove the lcok, and change it."

Brian Coltrane
07-27-2003, 02:45 AM
Brian gave the box of gunpowder a long look. It was probably the equivilent of a few sticks of dynamite. His dark eyes then flicked to the unlit match in MaryAnne's fingers.

"You wouldn't."

DaneyDuke

remembers what Uncle Jesse said once... You gotta give them city people the benefit of the doubt. It ain't right to take advantage of them just cause they don't know no better so just keep it simple.

"MaryAnne, just keep it simple."

MaryAnne
07-27-2003, 02:52 AM
MaryAnne grinned. "Sure I would....You want outta here, don't ya cousin?"

Brian Coltrane
07-27-2003, 02:58 AM
"Awright, smarty cop....I'm callin' your bluff. Ah refuse to believe you'd do somethin' that crazy. You're the responsible one in the Coltrane clan! You wouldn't do nothin' to destroy county property...or a county prisoner, for that matter!"

MaryAnne
07-27-2003, 03:04 AM
Keeps a steady eye on Brian for a long moment and then reaches into pocket, removing a length of fuse. She looks at it wistfully and sighs and then looks back at Brian with a grin. "Yer right. I wouldn't." Drops the fuse length into the box and tucks the match back into her other pocket. She then pulls the screwdriver from her back pocket and reaches up to the top hinge of the cell door. "But the look on yer face has been worth the price of admission, cousin...." Starts to unscrew the top hinge.

Daney takes a quick picture of said look and the grin on MaryAnne's face. Then doubles over in laughter. Tears of relief streaming down own face.

Brian Coltrane

"@#$&*%#," Brian muttered back witha grin. "I thought you'd string me along till I confessed to bein' the one who super-glued the drawers shut on the bookin' desk....but you didn't get it outta me. KHEE!"

MaryAnne
07-27-2003, 03:11 AM
MaryAnne stopped turning the screws for a moment. "What? YOU superglued the drawers?!?!" Pretends to be screwing the screws back in again....

"KHEE! You rascal! Rosco was sure mad aabout that." MaryAnne resumed removing the screws. The top hinge came loose. MaryAnne pointed the screwdriver at Brian. "And I did just get that lil' confession outta ya. KHEE!!"

countrygirl1986
07-27-2003, 03:12 AM
Hilery looks at Brian and balls over in laughter. "hey coltrane, i think you done confessed!" Hilery said falling over in a fit of giggles.

Brian Coltrane
07-27-2003, 03:15 AM
"Ah, shaddap. Y'all can't prove nothin' ." With a good-natured chuckle, Brian watches MaryAnne work at the hinges. "Anytime now, cousin...whatever ya do, don't strip the screws or somethin', or bust the screwdriver....Coltranes and tools don't mix too well, ya know."

MaryAnne
07-27-2003, 03:20 AM
"I got a room full of witness to your Coltranian slip. Khee!" MaryAnne removed the last screw on the bottom hinge. "And I think I got this pretty well under control here..." The bottom hinge came loose and MaryAnne pulled the door forward, although still attached by the lock it was just enough for Brian to step through.

She looked at him. "Yew can come out now. Khee!"

DaneyDuke
07-27-2003, 03:20 AM
Daney stops laughing and stands up straight. "Brian, are you so sure about that?" She tosses a tape recorder to Hilery with a wicked grin.

Mustering dignity as required for the occassion, Brian adjusts his jacket collar, holds his head high, and steps through the slightly open cell door.

"One small step for man...one great leap for bad guys everywhere. KHEEHAAA!"

He turns to MaryAnne, offers her a handshake. "No hard feelin's, cousin. It's been a long thirty days, but the law is the law....an' you an' I are still kin, even if we're on opposite sides once in awhile"

MaryAnne
07-27-2003, 03:30 AM
Takes Brian's hand and shakes it with a smile. "We're still kin. Always."

Daney steps over without any words and gives MaryAnne and Brian a hug.

Hilery looks at it then hits play. Everyone listens as Brians Confession is made. "Hmmm," she says grinning. "Good thinking Daney, and you know what, I figured that was him. Rosco was angry as anything when he was paying the repair bills for his patrol car... again. Welcome out Brian." Hilery says and looks at the tape recorder before running. A few seconds later she returned. "htere. Maryanne, the tape is in Rosco's office, waiting for your veiwing." Hilery said.

The Game Warden stood in the back corner of the room just watching the scene unfold. She just mused at the sight and shook her head with her arms folds as she leaned against the jail walls. She was chuckling to herself lightly as MaryAnne bluffed Brian, Brian panicking, and Hilery's jesting. It was good to see the folks of Hazzard working together.

She grinned and watched Brian and Daney hug, "Sorry I didn't answer ya sooner Brian. Fang's alright he's upstairs in my office safe and sound. MA, I'll be upstairs if you need me. By the way, it's my turn today to run to Busy Bee and get lunch. What would you like MA?"

Rosco
07-27-2003, 09:34 PM
Just then, Rosco strolled non-chalantly into the room, finishing off the last of a corn dog and stripping the stick clean. Seeing so many faces in the room led him to ask, "Did I miss somethin'?"

MaryAnne
07-27-2003, 10:52 PM
MaryAnne chuckled. "It took all of us to wrestle a confession outta this desperate criminal. He's all yours Sheriff." MaryAnne saluted Rosco with screwdriver in hand. She then turned to Val.

"I appreciate it, Val, but I'm gonna skip on lunch right now. " She smiled and picked up the box of gunpowder. "Have a glass of chocolate milk for me." MaryAnne started to head for the door. "That's FOR me, not ON me. Khee!"

The Deputy disappeared out the door.

DaneyDuke
07-28-2003, 12:20 AM
"You didn't miss nothin' except for some folks gettin' too serious and not havin' fun anymore," Daney winked at Rosco. "So if y'all will excuse me, I gotta get to an appointment." She grinned and ran out the door just seconds after the Deputy.

Brian Coltrane
07-28-2003, 01:29 AM
Brian took a step up to Rosco. "Well, if it ain't the Hazzard County Sheriff himself! Y'all ever give thought to upgradin' this here hoosegow into the twentieth century? I'll have you know, I just spent thirty days....thirty-one, to be pree-cise, countin' every brick n' bar in the place. And I'll tell ya, these digs could stand improvement. You call this a jail?"

countrygirl1986
07-28-2003, 03:12 AM
"Hi sheriff, I'm Hilery ... Cooter Davenports second cousin, I don't think we've met," the young davenport woman said to try to rescue Rosco from Brian, concidering almost no one else was around to do it because both Daney adn MaryAnne ahd left. val was also getting ready to leave.

Rosco
07-28-2003, 07:36 AM
"Nice to meet ya, Hilery," Rosco nodded his head.

Then he turned his attention to his cousin. "Whaddya mean this jail needs an upgrade? Ain't the whole point to keep the criminals in? Seems to me, it did it's job pretty well. Khee!"

Rosco smirked, satisfied with the look on Brian's face after his comment. "Well, yer out now, so whaddya say we go home and have a nice home-cooked meal, all of us Coltranes together again. I'm sure you've had yer fill of jailhouse slop. Khee!"

Brian Coltrane
07-28-2003, 08:11 AM
Brian let Rosco's words settle a moment, then repied. "Yeah, this jail holds criminals in so well, MaryAnne practically had to blast to get me out! Meantime, yer out at an important corn dog investigation..."

The rant is ceased a moment, as the suggestion of food sinks in. "Wait, you just had a corn dog and now yer talkin' dinner? Man, where do you cops put it all? Never seen nothin' like it...but yeah, a home-cooked meal would be good. So long as you ain't the one cookin'. Khee!"

As Brian started to walk to the door, he stopped to add one more thing, giving Rosco a clasp to the shoulder.

"It's good to see you again, cousin Sheriff. "

(Time to have some Fun!)

It had been a long day for more then one person, a new young cop had been on patrol since 6am that morning. It was time for him to cash in his chips for the day, his working hours were over. Known as Harlond to everyone the 21 year Old deputy was as strait as Enos strait and not a soul knew where he came from not even himself.

Harlond pulled into the sherriffs office in a Candy Apple Red 1969 442 Olds mobile with the name Crimson written in white letter next to 442. He entered the sherriffs office an set his paper work for the day on the secretarys desk. Harlond had given 5 speeding tickets a 2 parking tickets out that day. Dressed in a blue officers shirt he had a pair of pure black jeans on and black work boots.

"My shifts up." He said to the secretary then glimsped up to catch attention with a man in a black lether jacket.

This man was someone he hadnt ever met before, he figured it had to be someone who had been spending some time in the tank or jail, he wasnt allowed there yet. The two mens eyes met, Harlond anolised him quickly trying to undertsand which part of Hazzard he had come from.
