On this Memorial Day, we pause to show our gratitude to those who have made sacrifices for our personal freedoms, whether they sacrificed time with their families, put their careers on hold, or gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We thank you, men and women of the Armed Forces, for all that you do to keep us safe.

Many of ya’ll have been asking about DukesFest this year. While there’s not a DukesFest happening on the enormous scale of prior years, there IS an opportunity for you to meet several of the original Dukes Of Hazzard cast members this summer, at the Smokey Mountain Fan Fest. Friends and neighbors, we’re pleased to share this news..
Mark your calendars now for Saturday July 18th and Sunday July 19th. Get out the Road Atlas, program your GPS, pull up MapQuest or whatever you gotta do to find Sevierville, TN. It’s about 20 minutes from downtown Knoxville in the picture-postcard-purty Smokey Mountains.
The Smokies Stadium is the host venue where you’ll have an opportunity to meet Ben Jones, James Best, Catherine Bach, Don Pedro Coley, Sonny Shroyer, Rick Hurst and Byron Cherry. For those of ya’ll who don’t read the credits on the Dukes of Hazzard, that translates into Cooter, Rosco, Daisy, Sheriff Little, Enos, Cletus, and Coy. Any one of these nice folks is worth the trip to meet, but when you get the chance to see six of ‘em together, it’s even better.
If that ain’t enough, how about a good ol’ fashioned Hazzard-style hoedown with Merle Haggard in concert? Yes, Haggard in Hazzard. The concert is included with Saturday event admissions. There’s differenent options on how that works for seating and price, so we suggest you visit www.concertsinthesmokies.com to find the ticket deal you want.
Attention General Lee and other show car owners: Wanna bring your car? Visit the website above and click on the Fan Fest info, then scroll down to the contact info. Sounds like the special ticket offers are limited to the first 100 cars, so hit the gas on that one.
Disclaimer, ya’ll: The Smokey Mountain Fan Fest is produced by the Smokies Stadium, Tennessee Smokies Baseball, and First Class Productions LLC. In other words, you’ll need to visit the link above for tickets. While several Dukes of Hazzard cast members will be making appearences, none of ‘em are running this particular gig.
Hope to see ya there!

We’re long overdue for nominating a Dukes of Hazzard Fan of the Month. Recently, we were introduced to a 43-year old gentleman from Florida who definitely qualifies for the title.
Harry, who’s in the center of the picture below with the Oak Ridge Boys, has been a Dukes of Hazzard fan “since day one” in his own words. ( That’s since day “01″ in Dukes speak.)
Harry is a devoted husband, an avid fisherman, and a lifelong Dukes fan. His favorite episode of the Dukes is “One Armed Bandits”.
When we asked Harry what sort of career he’d choose in Hazzard County, he was quick to answer that he’d be a Hazzard County Deputy. This is especially fitting as ol’ Rosco himself, Jimmie Best, has already given him a badge and made him an honorary Hazzard County Deputy Sheriff. Ya see, Harry has been demonstrating his courage in the face of adversity since 2003.
Harry has cancer. He’s been through the mill with treatments, hospitalizations, and pain. Things are at the point where the doctors say there’s nothing more they can do.
Which means we’re gonna ask God to take over, and help Harry fight his battle with cancer.
We’re also going to do our part to cheer Harry on, by putting up a Forums topic where you can leave your well-wishes, encouragements, thoughts and prayers for him. Please join us here at HazzardNet as we rally behind this fellow Dukes fan.
Our thanks to Mr. Best for introducing us to Harry, our Fan of the Month. Click here to read and post messages of encouragement to Harry.
Rosco and Deputy Harry!

Harry’s quite the patriot! This is the American Flag Sun Protector on his truck.
On January 26th, 1979, the Dukes of Hazzard premiered on CBS. Thirty years later, we’re still enjoyin’ watchin’ the folks of Hazzard County livin’ it up, crashin’ cars, jumpin’ creeks, smokin’ tires and just all around having a good time.
Yeeehaw!!

There’s a lot going on in our forums and we thought we’d take some time to highlight some of the fun threads.
The trivia section has been growing these last few months. Several of our members have been participating in trivia and several other games designed to test your knowledge of the show. Swing by the Dukes of Hazzard trivia section to check them out.
Visit the Official Dukes of Hazzard Trivia thread where you can find some fun and challenging questions regarding all the episodes. Duke or Dupe is a fun game where you have to guess from two things which was really on the show and which was not. We also have a DOH Memory game where you have to guess which episode the posted pictures are from. And just this week, another trivia game was added, Star Trivia, which focuses on trivia about the cast.
So, come visit our trivia section and see if you can unseat some of our trivia masters!
Today marks the 10th Anniversary of HazzardNet, one of the largest and longest lived Dukes of Hazzard fan sites on the Internet. I’d like to mark the anniversary by thanking a lot of the folks that are responsible for making this such a great community. If I neglect to mention you by name, don’t think I don’t appreciate ya! There are just too many folks to mention and my memory sucks. LOL.
The resident HazzardNet historian, Brian, will have plenty of stories to tell over the course of our anniversary year, possibly including the time MaryAnne tripped over the cord and nearly wiped HazzardNet out. LOL. I think I did that once myself. But before Brian gets his keyboard all warmed up, I’d like to say a few things. I may get all sentimental and start to ramble, so grab a cup of coffee. LOL.
Over 13 years ago, I started a site for the Hazzard County Sheriff’s Department. It quickly gained a following. It attracted the attention of plenty of fans and even ol’ Rosco himself (luv ya, Jimmie!). Other fans started contributing to it. MaryAnne got the fanfic section going. Other fan fic writers stopped by the site and said howdy, including Jax and BrianColtrane. HazzardOne (now Mr. Meadowmufn, LOL) contributed a lot of the sound files we featured on the site. OfficerDCJ contributed screen caps. Others too numerous to name contributed ideas and content. It grew and grew to the point that I decided to do a more general Dukes of Hazzard website that would appeal to a larger audience. And thus, HazzardNet was born, 10 years ago today.
I’ve heard the cast, on occasion, wonder, “Who would’ve thought there’d be so much interest today in a 30 year old tv show!” When I started HazzardNet, I had no idea there’d be more interest now than ever, considering that the show was actually airing 10 years ago and you can’t find it on a national US network now. I chalk up continued interest in the show to people wanting good family oriented entertainment, the kind you can’t really find on tv nowadays, and to a new generation of fans introduced by their parents who enjoyed it as children when it originally aired.
As far as fans go, Dukes fans are the best! (But you all know that already, don’t ya? ) Some of the nicest folks I’ve met have been Dukes fans. And some of the people who matter most in my life, I have met because of our common interest in the show and because of this website. Just as I could never have imagined the show still being this popular 30 years later, I could never have imagined how profound an impact on my life that show and this website would have.
Not to name any names (Brian and MaryAnne, khee!), but there are a few of you I truly consider family who have seen me through tough times (some pretty dire, I’d have to say!), who celebrated the good times (some of which cannot be repeated here cuz it’s a family site. *ahem* LOL), and gave me a well deserved kick in the posterior when I needed it.
There are plenty of others who are the heart of HazzardNet and have been here practically forever. Sheep, Sarah, Sissy, Jax, Val, Pendragon, and probably a few I’m forgetting at the moment. (Forgive me! LOL) And the nice thing about HazzardNet is that there are new folks dropping by all the time who end up staying a spell and making an impact.
One new feature we’re going to add this year is the HazzardNet Honor Roll where we’ll feature HazzardNet members who’ve contributed something memorable to the site. We’ll post here again when that’s ready.
I’m sure I’ll have plenty more to say over the course of this year. Stay tuned because we have lots planned for our 10th Anniversary. Thank you, to all of you, who’ve made HazzardNet your home in these past 10 years. We couldn’t have done it without you!

One of our members, MinDuke, will be hosting Trivia Nights in the HazzardNet chatroom every Saturday evening for 2 hours starting at 5pm eastern/8pm pacific. At the end of the year, the top scorers for the year will have a chance at prizes and bragging rights in the trivia championship.
Our first trivia night was last Saturday, January 3rd. The winner was Meadowmufn (me). *Takes a bow.* I, however, am not eligible for competition in the championship, seeing as I’m putting up the prizes. The runner up was RogerDuke. Congrats, Roger!
The second and final night of the HazzardNet Christmas Party was a blast. We had another round of Guess the Christmas Carol. DaisyMaeDuke blew away the competition yet again, with BoJamesDuke coming in a close second. Santa swung by and brought some small gifts for all the participants. There was also a visit from Nasty the 9th Reindeer, played by one Brian Coltrane. Since we strive to be a family site, we won’t go into details. Suffice it to say, a fun time was had by all, despite the barroom brawl that briefly broke out. Next time, a little more egg and a lot less nog.
Well, we had a good turn out for the first night of our online Christmas party and we had a blast! We had a rousing round of “Guess the Christmas Carol”, which Lukas_KD and DaisyMaeDuke won in a tie for a pair of Amazon gift certificates. We also posted some of HazzardNet’s Christmas Critters in the gallery. Swing by and check them out or post some critters of your own! We’ll be back in the chat room for party number two tomorrow night (Monday, December 21st) at 8pm Eastern for more fun and games! Thanks to everybody who showed up.
Well, according to our poll, the most popular dates for a Christmas party are Sunday, December 21st and Monday, December 22nd. Since some folks are only available on weekends, we’ve decided to hold 2 parties, one on the weekend and one on a week day. The parties will start at 8pm eastern (that’s 5pm pacific) and will go until everyone leaves! LOL. There will be fun n’ games n’ prizes, so come join us in the chatroom Sunday and Monday evening.

While John Schneider was out shopping at the Westfield Sherman Oaks Mall this week, someone stole his SUV. Inside were two puppies that John had intended on giving his kids for Christmas. We’re hoping for the safe return of the puppies and recovery of the car. For more information, click here. If you have any information that can help locate John’s missing puppies, check out this Extra Tv webpage for info on the ExtraTips hotline.

If you would like to participate, please come by the forums and vote for the days that are most convenient for you. You can vote for multiple days. We will be having lots of fun and I hear Santa might stop by with some prizes… err, presents for some of the lucky folks that show up.
